One morning, as James got home, he found a note on his bed. He read it: 'Dear James, yesterday I finally found out where my old house is. My family lives in the Bloomsbury neighborhood from some research I did. I will have a carriage take me there, after which I hope they still recognize me and have not forgotten me. I'll be back soon, I promise you. First I want to remember what I had long forgotten. Thanks for everything you have done for me. I love you – Elizabeth'. As soon as he finished reading, he dropped the note to the floor and sat on the bed, completely distraught. He was keen to help her find her origins, but he didn't expect her to go there alone and so suddenly. He was afraid that she would never come back and this thing made him very agitated. He loved her and he wanted her with him. But it was certainly not forcing her to do what he wanted that would win her heart. He decided to let some time pass, hoping she would return soon. Meanwhile, he tried to cheer himself up by playing music and sailing.

Days passed, but Elizabeth still hadn't returned. James began to get tired of waiting. He asked Barrie if he knew anything. "Yes, I have her address, Mr. James", the servant told him, "I had brought a carriage up here to take her there, as she requested. Before leaving, she told me that she was coming back soon, but she didn't say exactly when". James nervously told him: "Quick, give me that address! I'm too worried, at least I need to know if she's okay!", "All right, all right. I'm going to get it right away". Barrie went to get the note with Elizabeth's family address. 'Poor thing, all those years among the pirates he seems to have become another person', he thought. He was a little upset about his brusque manner, but for the moment he said nothing. He didn't want to make things worse and James was already pretty upset. After all he had been through, his outbursts of anger were more than understandable. As soon as he gave him the note, James went back to his room to get ready. He was planning to go to that house that same night with his ship, so no one would see him as he sailed in the sky. He could hardly eat anything that day, he was too nervous for this situation. He smoked constantly to try to distract himself, so much so that a cigar was hardly enough for him anymore. 'It would be nice to have a double cigarette holder to can smoke two at a time', he thought. One day, he would build it himself.

Night fell, James went to get his ship and sailed through the air to Elizabeth's family home. He stopped on top of the roof, then he dropped a rope and went down, stopping in front of a window. He looked inside but saw nothing, it was too dark. He took his hook out of his pocket and, without making a sound, opened the window and entered slowly. He walked over to a bed and saw a little girl sleeping. He thought it was Elizabeth, but instead he looked at her better and noticed it wasn't her. A boy slept in another bed, but Elizabeth wasn't there. He went to another room and found her there, she was sleeping peacefully on a comfortable bed. He wanted to wake her up to greet her, but he preferred to let her dream a little longer. He scoured the rest of the house and found that the family's surname was Darling. 'The same surname as my rival from Eton!', he thought, 'I hope it's just a coincidence'. He hadn't forgotten about Arthur and his bullying and had always dreamed of giving him a good lesson before Peter took him away from college. He went to another room and found a happy couple sleeping on a double bed. He walked over and looked at him closely. He was very familiar to him, he looked just like Arthur Darling, the school bully. He hoped he was wrong, but then he noticed in the document room with his name. Yes, his sweet Elizabeth was a relative of Arthur! This was too much for James. If she had told him about him, who knows what Arthur would have put in her head. He feared losing her forever to his fault. 'No, never this!', he thought angrily, 'I'm sick of all these unexpected events! I'll get you for this, Arthur! First the humiliations at school and now this! Thats enough!'. He wanted to take him to his ship and teach him a lesson, but how could he take him away without waking everyone else? Then he had an idea: he left the house and knocked on the door, hoping that Arthur would go and open it. After a few minutes, the door opened. "Who is it?", said a male voice. It was really him. Before he could close it, James jumped on him, gagged him and pinned him well with a rope, then tied him to the rope he had lowered to the roof, scrambled up to the ship and set off.
