James Regsun, a Korean-American businessman was running a large corporation after taking over from his father six months ago. The new life was miserable, had had to bite his own tongue every time he attended a general meeting, why? because he was never in control, he was just a puppet for the corporation. Though his father had stepped down and passed the family business to him, he was never completely gone. His father stood behind him like an overwhelming shadow that blocks sucks the life out of him.
"James," his father yelled his name. "I need you to look into this," he expected his son to appear in front of in mere seconds.
James had just finished his coffee. he was sitting in the kitchen on the first floor, his father, Min Ho Regsun was in his study, keeping his retired life busy while he waited for the grim reaper to pay him a visit.
James stepped into the elevator at the kitchen and pressed the button number 2. There were many elevators built in that five floor mansion. It was for his mother initially, because she fell off the stairs when James was seven and the lower part of her body stopped responding. She would roam around the house in her wheelchair that creates squeaky sound, reminding everyone that she was still alive.
the elevator slide open and he was greeted by one of the maids. He nodded to her out of respect and marched to the study. He did not knock the door before entering because the sole of his soles already made a statement of his presence.
He sat facing his old man with his arms and legs crossed.
"This is a documentation to merge one of our companies with Mr.Gillard's and I want you to study this and brief right now," Senior Regsun ordered as he pushed a blue file across the table.
"Yes, father," James answered and quickly scanned through the documents. He could still feel the warmth each paper carried, it was freshly printed.
"Oh, before I forget," he father ended the silence keeping them apart. "Denise will drop by later, she wants you to take her to a...what is it called...rage room."
"Why?" James slammed the file on the table. "Is she going to marry you or me?" he stood up. "I don't even like her, father. This is a forced alliance."
"This is not forced, it is necessary. We are helping their corporation to grow bigger-"
"You mean you are helping them, not me. I am just a puppet."
"Don't argue with me, James," he stood up as well. They were both staring at each other, each gazing one another in anger. "You will be married in three months and that is final."
Without uttering a single word, he walked out of the room.
