Blue jeans accompanied by a white blouse looks good on me. I wanted to wear a black top instead but I don’t wanna look like I’m forcing myself into his favourite colour just cuz he said
he likes me. Though, I have an idea that he would love it. I keep my makeup natural and my hair in a messy bun. I don’t need to hide behind it today. My foundation will shield the blush.

The roar of the bus rumbles from the distance and I hurry to the bus stop. My depressed playlist doesn’t do much for me today. It just remains as a sound to cut out the bus’ engine. I need to get
some new music that aren’t all sad.

Bianca is stressed out on the bench, her right leg crossed on her left and her bag on her lap. “Hi.”

“Hey, Mikael says he can pick you up at seven.” I freeze from sitting down. “For the party.”

“Oh.” I’ve totally forgotten about that. “I’m not going.” I sit down across from her. “Still grounded.” I use as an excuse.

“Tell her you’ll be with us and-"

“It’s my mum, she won’t approve.” I try to look bump out. I personally wouldn’t mind going but my mum won’t allow me to go two places in a row. Especially at night. Maybe Jackson’s party might be fun, I just need to figure out a way to avoid sleeping at Michael’s.

Soon the others arrive and the conversations go to the usual. I don’t know why I keep looking around for Michael when I know he doesn’t come to school this early.

Mr Paul is as boring as ever. A couple of students makes fun of his black shirt with yellow stripes and he says something apparently offensive back if only his thick accent doesn’t make it
hard to understand. I wish that time would go as fast as it did this morning when the bell rang. The arrow on the clock takes forever to reach ten. But when it finally does I don’t really have
much to do. I linger outside the class for five minutes then rush for my next class when there’s no sign of the Goths anywhere. I catch a glimpse of a girl in black but it’s just an ordinary girl.

Theodore walks in after me and we both take over our seats. “Looking thick.” He shouts to Jessica, mouth open practically drooling over her. Her long brown hair dangles down her back,
directing the attention to her round ass, that’s enough to make even the gays stare. I smile. “So what’s up?” he turns to me, now whispering. “You going to the party?”

I blink, not sure which party he’s referring to. “No. Grounded.” It’s safe to use the same excuse as to avoid problems.

“Sucks to be you.” Mr Geri walks in with his lap dogs carrying his stuffs. Everyone quiets down. Somehow I grasp couple of things that he lectures about today. I get distracted from time to time but for the first time in a really long time, I understand what’s going on in class.

I sip on my water listening to Bryana brag on about the new phone her dad just got her. “You’re really not going to the party?” Bianca asks again, frowning, “Sneak out.” I scoff. I got lucky last time I’m not taking a risk like that again. By the looks of it Mum isn’t going to be going anywhere soon, so I’m definitely not sneeking out. “You’re missing out on your teenage hood.
The party will be really fun.” She says right when the Goths walk in.

Jackson is at the front with the others following behind. Where’s Michael? Bryana follows my gaze and her expression changes completely. “Really?” She hisses. “You’ve been hanging out with the Goths all week. Don’t think that we don’t know. We were your friends first, Layla.” She
snaps. I look at Lisa and Bryana and they stay quiet, siding with her. “It’s not cool that you’re refusing to hang out with us, your friends, just to be with those losers.”
