A group of girls passes by. One of them makes her staring a little too obvious. Michael barely looks back, his eyes are drooping with the morning fatigue, hair messy and he still gets the blood
to rush to her cheeks. At this point I don’t know if its simple nervousness from walking pass a Goth or walking pass him. If I were in her shoes I probably would’ve blushed too. I mean look at him. His black hair falls over his eyes, blocking it but still brings your attention to that spot. His eyes are like sweet breeze on a hot sunny day. Like the water drops on the car window from a thunder storm.

He gives me the honour of witnessing his lazy morning smile, his pink lips curving up to the side I’m sitting on and I just melt into his shoulder. Ever since emotionally admitting my love for
him, I just keep on falling deeper and deeper. Everything that he does just sucks me in. I haven’t allowed it to distract me from the current mission on my hand though. I’ve planned on telling him since Tuesday and thought of the exact words to tell him. I’ve practised them so many times, that I know it word for word but I haven’t found the correct time until now. I couldn’t get him alone at all yesterday and after school he had assignments to finish and apparently having me
nearby would be a distraction.

I thought of maybe asking Jackson to do it since he knows Michael longer but it won’t be fair to drop that load on him like Michael’s aunt did to me. I need to find a way to do it myself today. Not this morning though, he looks too at peace to receive that type of news.

The bell echoes through the premises. “I got to go.” He gets up in almost panic.

“Scared of getting detention?”

“I already do actually.” He pecks me on the forehead.

“What did you do?”

“Jackson.” He says before jogging down the hall. Well I guess I can cross ‘after school’ off the list. Lunch then.

I do the same as Michael and jog for class, sheer panic almost takes over when the hall begins to clear. Being late to class is not one of my characteristics. Luckily for me, the teacher’s desk is
empty when I pop my head in. Still, I hurry to grab my seat.

Theodore leans in to my side. “Are you going to the party?” I stare at him blankly for a moment before he adds “Jackson.”

“Oh.” I laugh, of course that’s the first thing he wants to talk about. “I don’t know, I still need to ask.”

The whole class quiets down and Mr Geri strides in his new grey trousers, glasses on his head and places his books on the desk. “Alright settle down, Class.”

Footsteps thud on the ground of the empty hallway. The blue locker room looks deader than ever. The silence at this early time is terrifying. Where is everyone? At that thought, the sound of
running approaches from behind; a group of boys – seniors- run pass us, one of them bumping into Bryana like nothing, pushing her into Lisa’s shoulder. Both girls let out a squeal as the tall guy raises his hand out for the flying football in the air. It hits his palm with a thud and down he goes running with his friends. Lisa and Bryana stare in pure shock of what just happened.

“How rude.” Bryana pushes her hair off her shoulder, her poor face has gone completely red with anger. “Isn’t there rules about no playing in the hall? I’m so going to report them.”

“Are you eating with us today?” Bianca changes the subject, directing her question at me.

“Ya,” I nod mildly. “Jackson wants you guys to come to his party by the way.” Bianca’s head snaps in my direction. The expression on her face doesn’t really give much away. I wasn’t sure
myself what to think when Jackson told me to bring them. It’s a step forward to having them actually be in the same place together that isn’t school but that will only happen if the girls accept.
