Scott sighed as his pencil marked absent-mindedly on his paper. He should've been taking notes but he couldn't focus, he could just get them from Lauren after, anyways. He was looking around, trying to keep boredom from swallowing him whole, when he heard a small clank. Looking over to his deskmate he saw the boy picking up the lid of his pen and continuing to write.

Smajor never really looked at any of his classmates except for now. This one had short golden hair, brown eyes, and a fairly light complexion. He was quite cute if Smajor was being honest. The boy stopped for a second to think and then glanced up. They made eye contact for a moment before both looked away embarrassed.

It was only 5th period and Scott felt like he was going to lose it. The whole day had gone by excruciatingly slow and he just wanted it to be lunch so he could chat with his friends. He continued drawing on his paper, tuning out the noise of the classroom until he heard the bell ring. Quickly throwing his stuff into his bag he then rushed to catch Lauren as she started walking away.

"My god, I felt like I was gonna die. Why's this class always feel so long." he joked.

"Maybe it's Mr. Smith's voice. He always sounds so excited to teach us." Lauren said sarcastically.

Smajor giggled quietly as they continued walking and making small talk. "Could you send me the notes for today, please?" He asked.

Lauren sighed. "Don't I every day, Scott." She said, smiling up at him.

"Yeah... thanks again for that."

"Don't worry about it."

After getting their lunch they went and sat down. Almost everyone was already there. They were all talking to each other when they saw Callum rush into the lunch room, get his lunch, and rush over to them. He looked very disheveled and out of breath.

"Are you alright? Why were you running?" Lizzie asked as she examined him.

"Never make Mr. Wilson mad." he said.

The group looked at each other, confused. "...The gym teacher?"

"Yes! He overheard me make some dumb joke and he made me run laps after class."

They all erupted with laughter. "Callum what did you say? Mr. Wilson is so lenient when it comes to literally everything!"

"I don't even remember! All I know is he made me run laps!" he said as he began to laugh as well.

After a little, the laughter died down and they continued eating and chatting like normal. Except for Smajor. Although he'd usually start most of the conversations, now he barely spoke at all. He was just staring off.

Lauren nudged his leg with hers. He looked over at her. 'You alright?' she mouthed. He nodded and looked back down at his food. Lunch went by quickly. He mainly stared at his lunch with the occasional glances up at a specific boy. Scott couldn't stop thinking about him.

They threw away their trash and left. They all had the same 6th block so they walked together. As they were walking Smajor noticed someone in front of them. It was the same boy he sat next to in history. Now that Scott knew this it made him wonder what other classes he shared with him. And made him realize he should start paying more attention to who his classmates are.

They walked into the Art classroom and took their seats. This block usually went by pretty fast because he sat with most of his friends, except Callum. Callum was in this class yet he sat in the corner with his soccer friends.

-!time skip!-

Scott and Lauren chatted as they walked along the sidewalk. They lived fairly close so they always walked home together and had often sleepovers. It was also a perk that they didn't live far from school, so it wasn't a long walk.

"So... Jimmy?" Lauren said, looking over at her friend as they left the view of the school.

"Who's that?" Scott questioned.

"The boy you've been staring at all day? The blondie you sit next to in history?"

"What about him?"

"Do you like him?"

Scott's face flushed slightly as he continued to look at the tiny rocks scattered across the sidewalk. "Lauren, he's straight. Aka, it's not like it could go anywhere if I did."

"How do you know?"

"I don't, necessarily, but if he's anything like his parents, he's just another super religious homophobe." Scott replied as he kicked a pebble.

"You could spend time with him and see. People aren't always like their parents."

He looked over and glared at her "Yeah sure, like his friends weren't the ones who bullied me when I was outed."

Lauren sighed. "Yeah I guess... he seems nice though. Plus he wasn't here when that happened. He only transferred here last year when it was all calming down."

They walked in silence for the rest of the time. Speaking only to say goodbye when Lauren parted ways to go to her house while Scott continued to his.

Scott had a lot to think about as he continued walking. So the boy's name is Jimmy. He knows that now. Jimmy hangs around the "popular" kids and his parents suck. But Lauren said he seems nice. And she's right, Jimmy probably doesn't even know about the bullying since he wasn't here when it happened. Maybe Scott will start talking to him. He just hopes Jimmy is different from everyone he hangs out with.
