The bell had rung just as Smajor sat down. He was getting his homework out when he felt a tap on his shoulder. Turning his head, he locked eyes with Jimmy.

Jimmy smiled. "Hey, can I borrow a pencil?"

Scott nodded and turned back to his bag. "Uhm... sure, yeah." He dug through his bag and eventually pulled a yellow mechanical out. He held it out towards his table mate. "Here you go."

"Thank you." Jimmy smiled, taking it and watching as Smajor put his stuff away before pulling out his own pencil. "I'll give it back at the end of class- I promise."

"You can keep it if you need it. I have quite a few so don't worry about it."

"...Thanks." He laughed again, before turning to face the teacher.

Smajor was jotting down notes when a piece of paper slid to his side of the desk. "did you get the homework done?" it read.

Smajor rolled his eyes and wrote on the back of it before passing it back over. "yeah, you need it or smth?"

another slid over,

"Yep, I kinda forgot to do it."

and he wrote on the back of this one too.
"you've forgotten a lot today, I guess."

He heard jimmy giggle, the sound causing the teacher to stop writing to look over his shoulder at them.
"Stop passing notes boys. I'm writing you up the next time I see it." He said.

They nodded and he went back to writing on the board. Scott heard another note slide over and glanced at Jimmy, who flashed a grin before looking back at Mr. Anderson, their math teacher. "We should talk more. Here's my number if you wanna :)"

Scott pocketed the note and wrote back "Flirting already? Take me to dinner first, jeez."

He watched as Jimmy shook his head, smiled again, and went back to writing notes. It was like this for all the classes leading up to lunch. Passing notes, trying to hold in their laughter at each other, neither of them knew how or why but they just seemed to click.
When lunch finally did roll around, Scott was bombarded with questions about it from his friends. Asking about what he was doing and why he and the good kid were getting in trouble.

"I told you." Lauren smiled.

"I guess." He looked up at her. "Oh and I think you'll be excited about this..." he trailed off before pulling a note out of his pocket.

"Oh my god. He gave you his number! You should text him." She gushed.

"Shush- you're gonna alert the whole lunchroom." he laughed. "I'll see him later anyways, why would I already text?"

"Yeah true." She said.

- time skip: after school -

Scott and Lauren walked joking the whole way. Before they reached their houses Scott looked over at his friend.

"Wanna sleep over at mine?" He offered.

"Why?" She said while glancing over at him.

"Because," He whined. " it feels like it's been forever since you stayed the night. Plus my parents are away for a few days so the house will be empty."

"I'll have to ask my mom first... Then again she loves you so I'm sure she'll say yes."

Soon they arrived and Lauren unlocked the door, walking in she looked around for her mom. When she spotted her she started talking. "Hey mom. Scotts here and I was wondering if I could stay over at his tonight?"

Her mother frowned. "You know I don't like you staying over at friends' houses on school nights."

"Please- we'll go to bed on time I promise."

Her mom looked at her for a while before sighing. "Fine. But be good, okay?"

Lauren grinned and hugged her mom. "Thanks!"

Her mom smiled and watched as she ran up the stairs, Scott trailing not far behind.

Lauren quickly packed some clothes and a phone charger into a bag before zipping it up. She grabbed it and they went back downstairs.

"Bye mom! Love you!" She called out.

"Bye! Love you!" She responded

They went out the door and continued on the path to Scott's house.
It didn't take long before they got there. It was times like this when they were extra happy about how close their houses were.

When they walked in they took off their shoes and went up to Smajor's room. They laid their bags on the bed before sitting with them.

"How much homework do you have?" He asked

"Not a ton, I did some in school. What about you?"

"I finished it during school. Do you need any of the answers?"

"I won't deny them." She laughed.

"Alright, take whatever you need."

While Lauren did her homework he took out his phone and the note. He entered the number in and created a contact.

"hi :]" he messaged. It was barely a few seconds before his phone buzzed with a reply.

"Hey, what's up?"

"just wanted to go ahead and add you as a contact. wby"

"Adding you as one rn"

"remember to do your hw tn lmao"

"I'll try haha"

He set his phone to the side and put the note away.

"Did you text him?" Lauren glanced up before returning to her work.

"Yeah." He sighed.

"I'm glad you two are getting along." She smiled.

"I am too. He seems really nice."
