Chapter Two - Pans are Weapons
"Keep Holding On" By Avril Lavigne.
"Seth!" Scarlet hissed as Seth took off. Quickly, she ran for him and grabbed his shirt collar making him choke back a surprised scream.
"Stop," Scarlet whispered, holding him tight as he twisted around. They listened for a moment before they heard his mother laugh, a whimper of a dog, and a voice of a man.
"Have you seen Scarlet any?" The man's voice asked. They could hear his voice faintly, not enough to know who it was. But Scarlet had no doubt it was Lex down there.
Seth shot a look at Scarlet. "He's on to you," he whispered and they backed up together and took to the bathroom. They were hiding in the bathroom, because the walls were thin enough, and stood right over the kitchen.
"No I haven't, why?" Seth's mother asked and then she started talking to their massive German shepherd named Thanatos. Seth's father back in the day had a thing for Greek mythology, and Thanatos had struck him as a perfect name for the stray pup. But now he was no longer a puppy but a massive dog with a good amount of gray hair.
She just guessed that's what the growling and howling had been. He never really liked Lex, not many animals do anyways. In that case there was no real life and death danger down stairs.
"She's missing," Lex started, "She was supposed to have been over here before we grounded her."
"Oh, well I hope you find her, I'll keep an eye out for her," Seth's mother concerned.
Scarlet could just imagine Mrs. Bailey smiling her bright smile with her strawberry blonde hair curling around her shoulders. She looked like the mom everyone dreamed of. Though, she didn't exactly know how to cook.
"Thank you. We appreciate that," Lex said and soon, the sound of a door closed comes from down stairs. Both Scarlet and Seth release what air they have been holding.
"That could have been close," Seth mumbled as he peeked through the bathroom door, no curious mother. They both knew she didn't see or hear Scarlet coming over, so what reason would there be for her to come up and check?
None, because she trusted her son way too much. He was a mischievous sort of guy, and Scarlet knew that, but he's never done anything to wild. He hardly ever got caught. Once he had decorated the boy's locker rooms at school with pink ribbons. No one knew who had done it, luckily. He would have been flatten out like a pancake if they did.
He waved Scarlet forward and they went back in his room, it was still early morning and they had time to kill.
"Seth! Breakfast time!" His mother called, he flinched at his name being called.
"Jumpy?" Scarlet smirked.
"No, I just don't like her yelling like that. I um, got to go down there. There's some breakfast bars somewhere in here, I-"
"Seth," Scarlet cut in. "Go down, I'll be fine."
"Okay," he nodded, and quickly left shutting the door behind him.
Scarlet walked around his room a few times and then sat on the desk, opening a shoe box. She saw some breakfast bars set, wrapped up in bright 'nature' like colors beside the shoe box.
She took the one with the chocolate chips, she wasn't much for breakfast but chocolate anything was good. Being snoopy Scarlet pulled up his internet tabs, several were blogs talking about UFO sightings, some of his documents were T-shirt designs, and other things.
