Chapter Three - Dog Fight
"Bad Reputation" by Joan Jet
Scarlet’s world was being turned upside down in the matter of a few short minutes. The howl of the wolf could have been heard a mile away. Scarlet had taken a quick, deep breath and started running again, trying to regain what calm she had stored deep inside her.
She ran around the corner, she wanted to fall and give out then. The place on the outside looked like a wreck. The windows were shattered and the door is thrown across the parking lot, huge claw marks dug deep in its side. Few lights flickered through the broken windows, and paper blew from outside it. Mixed with the howl of the wolf was the screaming siren of an imbalance and cops.
Scarlet ran in, despite the darkness she felt coming from the building. The tables were turned over and the front desk was smashed in half, paintings on the walls were ripped and pulled down as were the curtains.
She could hear soft whimpering moans, not beast but human like whimpers. She followed the sound as her heart thumped in her chest.
Behind what had use to be the front desk was Savannah, piled deep in the wreckage. Deep red liquid oozed from the corner of her mouth and through the wreckage upon her. Her hair was a mess and her eyes had bags around them, she looked overly tired.
Scarlet fell beside her, she could see the soft breaths that Savannah tried to take.
“I’m so sorry,” Scarlet said, and brushed Savannah’s hair back. She smiled and opened her eyes, and looked up at Scarlet.
“I knew you were going no matter what we did. You’re stubborn like your mother.” Scarlet’s vision went a little fuzzy at the thought of her young, dead mother who had died at the hands of Lupus himself, not long after Scarlet was born.
Savannah grabbed Scarlet’s hand, her grip was weak and fragile. “But Scarlet, you don’t need to be here with me. You need to leave, go to Lucy’s. Don’t go looking for Lex.”
“What happened to Lex?” She asked suddenly very aware that he is nowhere to be seen. Savannah tried to shake her head but it was only a small movement. “Savannah, please, where is Lex?” She was panicked now.
She tried to take a deep breath but didn’t get much in. “Lupus and his pack took him.”
Scarlet starred down at Savannah. “I love you. I will miss you. You were the mother to me,” she said and brought a smile to Savannah's face, a tear escaped her right eye before she took her last breath and little wisp of life she had left vanished and left her.
Scarlet looked down at the husk of a person she use to know. Dead now, gone.
Scarlet gently closed Savannah’s eyes and placed a kiss upon her forehead before standing and existing the back door. Stuffing a silver dagger that has ran in the family for years right before the cops blasted through the place. Only to find a wrecked cafe’, two missing people and a dead body.

Rain came down hard, splattering across the black pavement of a abandoned road, cracks and holes filled in with the water. It soaked in to Scarlet’s hood who was oblivious to lightning playing across the blacken sky.
She don’t care, the rain is cold but she doesn’t notice it. What she does notice is the smell of wet dog that is strung all around the empty lot in down town, only a few little shops are open. Most are hunkered down for the fast approaching storm that would rip through the town in the time of half a hour but that doesn’t make it any less dangerous.
