Chapter Nine – A Night of Madness

Okay so I have two songs for this chapter, "Madness" by Muse and "Treacherous" by Taylor Swift.

A deep, throaty groan escaped Seth's lips. Scarlet's eyes fluttered open from the disturbance. Her version was blurry and her head still foggy from sleep. But she could feel the small ripples going through Seth's body, and then the massive shattering of bone that made him scream out in pain and double over.

The birds in the trees above flew away in a rush, searching for a better resting place. "Seth?" Scarlet asked, her voice shaking with concern.

"I'm okay," Seth mumbles and grips his side, this time trying to hold the scream in but it didn't work. He crawled his way out of the small opening off the hill and landed on the forest floor. Green leaves sticking to his body as was his hair.

Scarlet quickly put herself together and knelled beside Seth. A massive amount of heat was radiating off of his body from the breaking and shattering of bones as they rearranged themselves.

"I think something is wrong," Seth gasp. Looking up at Scarlet with wide eyes, pain and fear.

She shook her head, hands shaking, thinking. "No, no. You're changing. It's going to hurt." Her hands flutter around him, too afraid to touch him.

There is a sound of fabric ripping. "We need to get your close off," she explains and starts to work on his shirt. Getting it over his head was a hassle, but she was able to retrieve the wet shirt before to much damage.

Seth shook but attempted to get on his knees. His skin rippled and tore where it was tight, leaving bloody gashes.

He stood on his feet with Scarlet's help by his side. He gripped a near by tree in the break of the change. The biggest bones that would needed breaking had already been done and was being replaced with ones that would be more flexible for the future changes.

Scarlet remembered all of this from back when she was little. Lucy and Lex had taught her about the transformations of their enemies numbers of times.

She worked on his pants, unbuttoning and pulling his jeans down, she tossed them to the side leaving him in his underwear. He had already kicked off his shoes that were now hiding somewhere in the brush.

"Scar, promise me that you won't stick around for this," Seth says weakly, focusing on his breathing, arm drape around Scarlet's shoulders.

She looks up at him. She wasn't going too, at least that had been the plan but now not so much. Seth was in pain, was being tortured and she couldn't leave him alone to deal with it by himself. But it would be foolish to stay, he'd kill her after he changed.

She shook her head. "No. I'm staying."

He doubled over again, sliding away from Scarlet's grip he landed on the ground once again. She followed him down, trying to help again. “Get back!” Seth screams.

But it was to late. She wasn't expecting it. She was snagged up by the back of her hood and pushed up against a tree. The bark cutting in to her skin, his fist pressed against her shoulders keeping her in place.

Opening her eyes, Seth's was starring in to her's. They kept dialing and dialing back with a crazy look that was close to being animal like.

She took in a deep breath, he was so close, and so close to breaking. She shook underneath is hold. Not able to think of what to do. He could kill her. He wouldn't be able to refuse the blood and meat and life she would give him in her death. . .

“I can't fight it. I will hurt you,” he whispers.

“No you won't,” Scarlet says. Doing her best to believe it.
