Ch-21: Bloody Escape

"Holy Hades! I think we figured another one of your god- I mean titan-ly powers.", Nico was actually smiling, something he never did, different from his total Yo I am a totally depressed kid who doesn't want to be here but I got to save the world vibe.

"Super-strength?", I questioned with a raised eyebrow and twisted lips.

"Yes", he said in his duh of course a.k.a  an emotionless tone, rolling his eyes.

"Bitch, I am stronger than Ares! Can you believe that?", I exclaimed, jumping up and down

"No I can't. Maybe Ares was too much of a coward to remember to utilise his physical strength or maybe the giants didn't consider you powerful enough to use Ares' cage on you"

"Ouch, what a downer moment, bro"

He just shrugged in response, then pointed at the crack.

I understood what he meant as I proceeded to kick the jar hard, repeatedly, since those were more lethal to the jar than to me, unlike punches. By the end of it, I had bloody fists and wobbly legs, ready to give out. I was almost ready to pass out, and it felt as if it needed just one last powerful kick.

"Shall I give it a try?" Nico whispered after seeing my condition.

"No, nopes, you seem way too exhausted for that. Wait, would you be able to even walk?"

"Yes I-", he started hyperventilating all of a sudden. "Oxy- less...here", he whispered as he coughed.

"Oh, shit right. The twins mentioned that. Wait why am I able to breathe then?"

His coughing spell stopped as he scowled at me. "Oh, yeah right. I am a titan"

I blew a raspberry and managed to land one last kick onto the glass jar, twisting my heel while doing so for some goddamned reason. "Ow", I yelled, way louder than I meant. Plus, the glass had shattered the previous moment, so my voice seemed to echo through the empty halls of what looked like a giant-sized cave.

"Shit, we have to hide, the giants might come-", before I could continue my scaredy cat rant, Nico put his hand over my mouth and pulled me down and we both jumped from the table on which the jar was kept. He took my hand and sprinted down to some random ass mustard couch which stank as bad as hell. Maybe I was still stuck in hell, unlike my first assumption. It reminded me of spoiled milk and the smell of my socks after a five hour sweaty soccer practice.

Then we heard loud thumping and marching sounds from outside. "Oh no! They broke through", cried one.

"Shut up and stop acting as if it matters. They should be somewhere nearby, the yell was recent."

As the noise supposedly said that the giants were trudging around and scouring for their kidnapees, I looked around for Nico and found him attatched to the ceiling, then figured out that it was the wooden edge of the couch the boy was hanging out to it and fitted his feet  and then realised that he was beckoning me to do the same, which I did. I didn't understand how I was able to, until I saw Nico using his shadows to keep us away from the ground, from where we can be seen by the giants.

We might've been stuck there for a few minutes or so when Otis bent down to look under the couch, I almost thought we were screwed but as it appeared, he wasn't able to notice us, all due to Nico, so now Otis was pulled up by his twin and they both seemed to be going out in our search.

After a few minutes, Nico and I landed back onto the ground and started looking around for another exit.

"Ugh, there is nothing here!", I groaned being the extremely whiny kid I am.

Nico shushed me, "Keep your voice down, Krishna", he whispered while scowling at me.

"Okay"

And then I sat down contemplating my sad life and how the hell did it do downhill so badly, yet I was unable to do so because the patch I was sitting on broke and I was going to plummet down into another pit. Nico reached out his hand for me as I gripped onto the edge of a rock but I found myself incompetent to hold his hand because of the strong pull of the pit.  The pull wasn't gravity, it was "Tarturus", I breathed, before I let myself fall, not wanting Nico to come down with me in order to prevent the Gaia disaster.

Unluckily for me, before I got knocked out during my descent, I found a pale figure by my side.
