Mortal high schools are filled with a variety of people. One high school in Maine is walked by a faerie princess and the mortal girl that she loves. One of the mortal boys in that school made the decision to be unfriendly towards that mortal girl, saying lewd, inappropriate things and attempting to touch her without permission.

Nivia Greenbriar, Crowned Princess of Elfhame, strolls up to the mortal boy during lunchtime, a smooth smile on her face. "I want to make a bargain with you."

The mortal boy looks at her like she's crazy. "What the fuck?"

"Scared?"

"What the fuck are you talking about?"

The princess hums. "How about this. You bring me a bouquet of flowers by midnight tomorrow, or else every time you touch a woman for the rest of your life, she will feel like fire at your touch. It will be excruciating."

"Are you fucking insane?"

"Quite possibly. Do you agree?"

The mortal boy snorts, not taking any of this seriously. She's just a stupid girl who likes to get dick. "Sure, whatever."

Nivia's smile widens, a savage light in her eyes. She nods her head and slips off into the throng of students.

The next day at lunch, Nivia approaches the boy again. "Did you get me flowers?"

The boy looks at her, incredulous. "Fuck no."

"You have until midnight. Make good choices."

As Nivia walks away again, the mortal boy laughs with his friends, calling the pale girl a freak. What's her deal?

He doesn't think of it again. He doesn't pick flowers. He doesn't get anything to Nivia by midnight.

He hugs his mother goodbye the next morning, and it feels like wrapping around a live flame. He jerks away, eyes wide. He decides to chalk it up to tiredness.

Lunch comes around again. The boy storms up to Nivia this time.

"What the fuck did you do to me?!"

Nivia smiles a strange, inhuman smile. "Whatever do you mean?"

"You said- You said if I didn't get flowers then-"

Nivia laughs, the sound even more inhuman than her smile. "I warned you."

"What the fuck did you do?"

"Me? I did nothing. You're the one who agreed to this bargain in the first place." Nivia smiles again in that moment, and lets her glamour slip. Lets the boy glimpse her pointed ears, her sharper features, her savage eyes. "Perhaps you've learned your lesson."

The mortal boy falls back, eyes wide. He scrambles away, wincing away from any female he brushes against. Wincing away from the flames.

Nivia fixes her glamour and goes to her next class. She and her brother, Auron, laugh about her story later.
