It was such a peaceful morning it was one of those mornings Nova didn't have to get up early to head to the bakery. Though peace doesn't last long when you're living with Yorozuya Gin-chan. Outside you could clearly hear two people arguing over rent.
Who Nova instantly recognize as Gin and Otose. She just smiles at the sound of them. She found it funny and endearing how they argue all the time. People would think she was insane if she told them. Who in there right mind enjoy two people arguing? Well she did it.
She love how they can be so energetic when arguing and to be fair they were hilarious.
Nova decide to finally get out of her bed and went to check on the two. Not forgetting to grab a white envelope from her closet. "Good morning Gin, Otose still discussing about rent?" She lean against the doorframe observing the two.
"Morning Nova, I would say it was good if YOU GUYS WERENT 2 MONTHS BEHIND ON RENT" Otose snaps in Gin's direction who had a look of boredom and disinterest.
Nova chuckles at them. She hands Otose the white envelope. "Here's about half the rent for this month Otose" A smug grin appears on Gintoki's face as Otose count the money in the envelope.
"See you got your money, you'll get the rest later" he places his arm around Nova's shoulders. She tense under his touch. Her heart was beating out of her chest just from being in-contact with him. Though at the same time she felt safe within his presence like nothing could ever harm her.
"LIKE HELL YOU STILL HAVENT PAID ME IN 4 MONTHS! YOU HAVE POOR NOVA COVERING YOUR ASS! Nova, woman to woman leave his sorry ass" Otose flicks the ashes off her cigarette. Gintoki quickly pulled said woman into his arms away from the elder.
"DONT GO SPOUTING NONSENSE! Didn't I fix your videos that should cover the other half of the rent" the two continued to argue forgetting about the poor woman who was still in the arms of the person who owned her heart. Her face was scorching hot from all her nerves were making their way to the surface. She discreetly move out of his arms not that they would've noticed through their heated argument.
Nova calm her heart and look down the stairs to see the new employee that Gintoki hired not too long ago. She sent him a soft smile that made the younger boy smile as well. She made her way down to him.
"Hello Shinpachi, How are you this fine morning" Shinpachi looks at her with a deadpan look.
"If this is what you call a fine morning I wonder what a not fine morning is" she just chuckles in response.
"You'll get use to it" a look of horror suddenly appears on his face. He frantically points behind the woman.
Nova looks back confused only to have the question on her mind answer rather quickly. Gintoki was thrown down the stairs by Otose once again. Now he was hurdling his way towards Nova.
She just sighs at the sight. She caught him effortlessly. It was a weird position. He was being held upside down by his waist.
"OTOSE YOU HAVE TO BE CAREFUL WHERE YOU THROW HIM INNOCENT BYSTANDERS MAY GET HURT"
"WHAT ABOUT MY WELLBEING" Gintoki shouts but he was obviously ignored by the woman. She twirls him upright and set him down.
Shinpachi was too stunned to speak. He couldn't believe he just witnessed this gentle woman he's known for about a month now had the strength to catch a grown man effortlessly. How could someone who look like they wouldn't harm a fly be so strong?
Nobody seem to notice his bewildered expression as Otose makes her way down the stairs. "I expect my money by the end of the month you buffoon. Have a nice day" with that being said she was back inside her bar.
"Gah that old hag.... How are we suppose to come up with the money" Gintoki scratches his head. He lets out a long sigh and headed back towards their home. "Nova isn't it time for to go see grandma."
"Oh you're right I must prepare to leave" she quickly runs into their home to get ready with Gintoki following. She speed walk to her room and puts on her daily outfit. It was given to her by grandma Misaki. She said she use to wear it when she was in her prime. Nova got a lot of clothes from her and she cherished each and every piece of cloth.
Once she got the easy things out the way, it was time for the hardest part of the day.
Doing her hair.
It was not easy for the poor woman to do her hair on her own. Back on her planet she had a servant who would do this task. It was the few things she couldn't really learn how to do. Even with her two years of independence.
Nova likes challenges but this was somewhat too much for her. That doesn't stop her from trying though.
With her small circular mirror she attempts to put her hair in a high ponytail.
First attempt: the ponytail was too loose and had a weird lump in the front
Second attempt: too loose and tilted to the left
Fifth attempt: STILL TOO LOOSE AND NOW THE BRUSH IS BROKEN IN HALF.
Nova grew frustrated and snap her brush as if it was a toothpick. She had zero patience when it came to her hair and it refused to cooperate with her. She was contemplating on just wearing it down. She knew it would get in the way when she work if she did that.
She had two options now.
Struggle for another 30-60 minutes or ask Gin to do her hair again. Option one wasn't really an option since she had to be there in 23 minutes so, she was left with no choice. She grabs her backup brush and hair tie. The woman then walk into the living room to see Gintoki sitting on the couch.
Wordlessly, Nova sat down in front of him with her back facing him. She lays the brush and hair tie on his thigh. And now she must wait. Not even moments later he found his way into her hair.
"Damn you really got it all tangled up this time. It looks like an entire jungle lives in here" he skillfully starts to untangle the mess she made. Once you do it the first ten times you become a pro....well for him not so much Nova.
"How come you're so good at this but I still suck"
"Maybe cause you have zero talent for i- OUCH Don't pinch me cause I speak the truth woman" he pulls her hair lightly as a warning. Nova doesn't know why (she does) but she swears her heart skipped about several beats when he does so.
After that Nova didn't say anything nor pinch Gintoki again.
