"ready for the sleep over!?" Sasha popped into the conversation excitedly.

Y/n quirked a brow, "sleepover?" he was never informed about such plans.

The blonde looked at the others, realizing what she let slip, "uhm, sorry Y/n, my parents don't want a guy to stay over night.. I guess we forgot to tell you.."

Marcy put a hand on his shoulder, "Sorry N/n, we can call you like we did last time!"

"Yeah dude!" Anne smiled, "it'll be like you're right there with us!"

Y/n put on the most realistic smile he could manage, "sure! sounds good."

The girls clapped in delight and began talking about what they'd do. Dramatic make-up and hairstyles on Anne in an attempt to update her style again. Watch Marcy's movie before bed. Talk about drama and listen to Sasha shit-talk some of their classmates. Games like twister and truth-or-dare. The usual things.

Y/n hadn't been invited to a lot of the hangouts lately. For stuff at the girls' houses, their parents were supposedly unsure about having a teenage boy with their daughters. For places like the mall, they assumed he wouldn't have fun, or the car seats were all taken up.

He was used to it at this point.

...

"Y/n!!" The three voices harmonized unevenly as the lonely boy answered the call.

"hey guys!" He smiled as he propped the device against his pillow while he sat at the other end of the bed, facing the screen.

He was excited, perhaps this time would be different. Maybe he'd be included somehow.

"what're you wearing?" Sasha laughed a hoodie she'd decorated with him last year.

He looked down self-consciously and laughed, "uh, it's nothing"

"Pfft- Okay," She rolled her eyes, "first things first," Sasha started, "Anne.." She smirked evilly as her and Marcy pulled out hair ties, hairspray, pallets of eyeshadow, and tubes of lip products.

"I'm not even surprised." She said in defeat, backing away slowly off screen.

Y/n turned up the volume and leaned closer, as if that'd give him a better angle than the pixels allowed.

A trail of giggles and screams ensued.

Marcy would drag up her poor 'styled' friend to ask Y/n what he thought of each new look every 15 minutes. Leaving him a lot of extra time to sit and think.

'why do i even put up with them anymore?' he thought sadly. He'd gotten used to this thought crossing by every now and then. He was suddenly hyper-aware of where he was. alone with his phone. it was sad..

About an hour later, the camera had fallen over in the middle of another abrupt pillow fight. Y/n fought the urge to scoff, settling with an eye roll and hanging up. He plugged his phone in, realizing he had drained the battery with the call and a day at school.

As he laid down on his bed, he could feel an all too familiar burning sensation in the back of his throat and eyes.

'why don't they care about me..?'

As a silent tear slipped down his cheek, just like so many nights before, he turned on his side, stuffing his face in his pillow. Hoping he'd just fall asleep. Perhaps dream of a world where they were all close friends.
