Mature content ahead
The wedding's just around the corner, and everyone, including Harry and me, is stressing about all the details which are unnecessary on their own, but make the day unforgettable for Gemma and Michal. Poppy is probably the most excited I've ever seen her to be, being the most important flower girl.
Harry speaks about the wedding with enthusiasm as well, despite the fact he still mumbles curse words under his breath whenever he remembers Michal proposed to Gemma on Valentine's Day, the day when the two of us kissed for the very first time.
Everyone's always confused when Harry brings up the day of their engagement, claiming it was very unoriginal of them, letting them know how disappointed he was that they had to choose this day out of the 364 remaining ones. Anne would always roll her eyes at her son, telling him he should be happy they finally got engaged after such a long time of dating.
At the moment, I'm on my way to Harry's house, carrying the massive Love On Tour tote bag, which I took to the grocery store with me to shop for the ingredients I need to make the wedding cake. I didn't really plan on baking anything for the wedding, but when Gemma gave me a call the other day, saying the bakery where she ordered the cake from bailed on her, I knew offering to make it for her was the right thing to do.
However, the person who's been the most enthusiastic about me baking the cake is Harry, because it means I have to make it at his house, so that it will be easier for us to deliver it to the venue in the morning, timewise. Also, he's got a much bigger oven than me, which will enable me to bake more sponges for the cake at a time.
When Harry told his sister I would be baking at his house, she didn't think much of it, still of the idea that Harry and I are very good friends. Since Gemma wanted to make the process of making the cake easier for me, she's offered to take Poppy to her place for a sleepover before the wedding, since Michal will be spending the night at his brother's, knowing it supposedly brings bad luck if the couple spends the night together the day before the wedding. With Poppy at Gemma's place, it means I will be able to fully concentrate on making the cake without her running around Harry's kitchen.
From the moment I saw Gemma for the first time, I've always thought of her as a humble girl who's very down to the earth, sharing her good manners with her brother, whom I even then had a huge crush on. The fact that Gemma wanted a small wedding didn't surprise me at all, however, what shocked me was the early date of the wedding. Having gotten engaged in February, it's quite unusual to have a wedding in the span of only three months.
I can't lie, the possibility of her being pregnant crossed my mind, but when she invited me to her bachelorette party last weekend and I could barely keep the count of the many drinks she'd had, the possibility of her carrying a child hasn't crossed my mind since.
They probably just want to get the wedding over with as soon as possible, since I remember how Gemma's mentioned several times how much she hates planning. I've learned that she struggles with anxiety, and dealing with the wedding for a year like other future brides do, would simply drive her crazy, which is totally understandable.
I can't help but smile at the memory of the bachelorette party, since the day brought so much fun to everyone who attended. I was surprised when Gamma invited me to join the group of her few friends, being incredibly grateful to be a part of this special day. Harry was happy to give me a ride to one of the most exclusive clubs in London, glad his sister and I get along so well. Since the party was for ladies only, he spent the evening with Poppy at home, sending me random updates on what they were doing, which I found incredibly adorable.
According to the text he'd sent, the two of them painted their nails, watched a movie and played a game of Uno together, complaining about how they'd missed a third player, which'd brought a smile to my face.
