Nick's POV

I am woken up by the sound of a bird chirping at my window.

I know, that sounds straight out of a fairytale, but I can promise you it's true. The bird is probably singing his favourite song right now, and I feel bad for interrupting it but it needs to shut up before it's going to drive me crazy.

I get up from my very comfortable bed and as I head over to the window frame, before i'm even able to say or do anything, the bird flies off. His song must've been over.

I groan and rub my eyes, who now hurt after being exposed to the sunny sky of england.

Great, looks like I'm going to have a headache.

Damn bird.

As I decide to get back in bed and finish my night, I hear my mother call out my name from downstairs.

"Nicky?" she says.

Now that my mum is used to living alone, since I left for uni, every noise I make cannot go unnoticed. When I come home extremely drunk and miss a step, she's by my side in a second to make sure everything is fine.

It happened not too long ago, when I met Charlie at the pub.

I missed a step and fell in the staircase and just cried in that same spot for a few minutes.

It was four in the morning, and she still got up to make sure I was fine.

She didn't ask any questions, though.

"Mhm?" I say rather loudly as I hear her climb the stairs gently.

"Just letting you know that I'm meeting a friend." she says as she opens my door softly. "Just so you don't look for me everywhere."

I am currently on my stomach with my head turned the other way, I cannot see her, but I know she's got the biggest smile on her face right now.

My mum is the most cheerful and understanding woman there is in this world. I love her to death.

"Okay," I say with a groggy voice, turning around for her to see my face and give her a smile.

"How'd you sleep?" she asks me, her cup of tea in her hand and her purse on her shoulder.

I'm assuming she was just finishing her tea before leaving the house.

She truly is a mom.

"I slept alright." I tell her as I sit up in bed, rubbing my eyes. "This stupid bird woke me up."

"Oh darling," she says, taking one last sip out of her cup and giving me an apologetic look. "I've gotta meet with Jane, if you could just hoover the floor cause i didn't want to wake you up."

She's meeting Charlie's mom then. Nice.

This reminds me that he has yet to reply to my text from yesterday.

Me and him started speaking again on friday night, and everything was going well until he decided to just, ignore me.

Which is cool, he doesn't owe me anything.
