My doorbell rings. Very loudly.

It makes me startle, and my head leaves my pillow before my eyes even open.

It was on Nick's pillow, and it makes me cringe. God, I really am missing him whenever he's not here.

I grunt and get out of bed swiftly, wiping my mouth with the back of my hand, thinking it might just be the amazon delivery guy.

"Comin'"

Before I even have the time to get out of my room, the front door opens and Tao, Elle and Isaac show up with bags full of pastries.

I really have to start thinking about locking the door before going to bed, it'd keep me from these kind of situations.

"Oh well come on in." I tell them from my room and thank myself for getting up to pee and putting a large shirt and some boxers on earlier.

"Good morning!" Tao and Elle say in unisson, and giggle right after.

They're so in love.

Tao knows my apartment, he's spent enough time in it with me to know exactly where everything is, so he walks to the kitchen and takes out glasses, mugs and plates.

"It's a surprise breakfast." Isaac informs me with a chuckle before sitting down on a chair around my small table and waiting for Tao to put the pastries down on the plate.

I sit down next to him, and Tao brings orange and apple juice to the table before bringing the plates full of croissants and pains au chocolats.

There's this small bakery ten minutes away from my house that's owned by a french person and she makes the best croissants I've ever eaten.

Even the ones on the Paris trip weren't as good.

Sitting down on one of the four chairs that fit into my small apartment, I look at my three best and closest friends, and realise I haven't seen them for a while, now.

I wish I would have realised it sooner.

"So," Tao says when we've all put something in our plate in silence. "Elle has spoken to Darcy."

Oh.

Now, I know what's coming.

I bite my lip and look at my friends, who are all looking at me with a disappointed look.

There's a silence, and I understand that they're all waiting on me to speak up and tell them what's happening.

They're giving me a chance to be the one announcing the news.

I feel bad that Nick's friend group knew about what's been going on before mine, but it's honestly been weird.

I don't even know where we're at right now.

And there's this kind of shame that goes with getting back with your ex, I tried to tell Tao about it but he seemed mad, so I decided to do my thing.

"Why didn't you tell us?" the only woman in the room speaks up, and I sigh.

"I just didn't wanna bother you. Or disappoint you."
