Elise sat on a cushioned seat in what seemed to be a waiting room, waiting on her friends to join her. She ran her thumb over the small card, thinking about everything she'd gone through to get to this point. All the trials and puzzles, all for this little card in her hands; she could barely believe the item in her hand was her key to a new, better life.
"Look, Elise !" Gon's excitement pulls her out of thought. She laughed as he held the card so close to her face she couldn't even make it out. "I'm very proud of you, Gon." She said warmly as he lowered it. "Man, I sure wish Killua was still here." He huffed. "I know, Gon, But you know he'd be proud, too."
It was ironic that Killua wasn't here, But instead most likely home now with his brother. Killua had been the first person she met, they were both early arrivers and ended up being fast friends.

Elise had been taking a nap against one of the far walls, she'd been sure that it was far enough away from everyone that she wouldn't be bothered, but was awoken by something nudging her foot. Upon waking, she noticed there were many more people than before, and the growing group of people were now growing closer to her with every new arrival.The closest, however, was a young boy with white hair. He was doing tricks on a yellow skateboard before he noticed her analyzing him after a few minutes. "Hey, my bad; I didn't mean to graze your shoe. Sorry if I woke you." He apologized as he kicked the skateboard into the air before catching it. "You're good, don't stop on my account." she yawned and stretched. "Nah, I'm getting kinda bored of it anyways." He took a seat next to her and they began to have a conversation that unbeknownst sealed their friendship.
They had asked each other their reasoning for taking the Hunter Exams and many other things about their life. Both had a rough past, and they could tell. But they enjoyed each other's company until the first phase began. That's when they'd met the rest of the group.
~"We've been talking, actually, and we're all going to go try to get him. But I was wondering if you wanted to join?" Gon explained. She must have zoned out again because the Leorio and Kurapika were there in the lobby now, expectantly looking to her from behind Gon. Looking into the curious eyes of the three people she considered her closest friends, all to get her other friend home, she almost said yes. She wanted to, she did.
But then the thoughts came back;
You really think they consider you a friend? You're just a own, they're using you. They'll use you until you're all used up then they'll leave. You'll never see them again. Don't be foolish, continue alone. in solitude as you had planned before becoming distracted.you shake your head, as if that will shake the thoughts out as well. unlikely. but no matter how much she wanted to believe otherwise, deep down she knew those thoughts were the only truths here. the friends she'd made were an illusion, just people helping, using, each other to finish a task.
"No, i'm sorry, Gon, but i have things to take care of." she declined apologetically before adding, "but if you guy do end up seeing Killua, let him know i miss him." with a small smile. "It's okay! We understand, and I'll tell him when I see him!" he replied, nevertheless joyful even when disappointed.
They all talked a whole more before saying their goodbyes. Elise wished them well and safe travel, before setting off on her own.
