Beep.
Beep.
Beep.
I stand near the window in the middle of the night far from the light illuminating from light on the bedside table.
I made sure to come when I knew everyone had left and no one was coming back for the night. I also need to be wary of the guards outside.
She hasn't woken up. It's been three days since the accident happened and she's still in a slumber. I told her not to get herself killed but here she is laying defenseless with a drip connected to her hand.
This is the third night I've been here and honestly I don't know why. Maybe it's because I've been feeling guilty since I also planted a bomb but the one that went off wasn't mine.
And most importantly I wouldn't detonate a bomb while knowing her little brother was there. If there's one similarity between the two of us, it's that we never want our younger siblings to get involved.
Also because I don't kill kids.
I stay where I am and look at her face that still looks pretty even with a bandaid on her forehead.
I turn to leave through the window I came from and all of a sudden a dagger flies by my face.
I turn around and feel another dagger to my neck and standing before me is Eureka who looks like she could collapse any minute.
She pulls the mask that I covered my face with down and her eyes slightly widen when she sees it's me.
I go to say something but she cuts me off.
"If you're here to kill me then you made a big mistake because you're not getting out of here alive" she says and press the dagger harder against my neck.
I smirk because I can tell she's tired. Even the strength she's using isn't near that of a fully recovered Eureka that I know.
"Are you sure you can slit my throat fast enough" I ask and grab her wrist with little force but she doesn't let go.
"You dare try to harm my brother. I should kill you as compensation for the trauma he will experience" she says while glaring at me.
I look at her tired state and sigh "it wasn't me"
She tilts her head a little as if not believing me so I elaborate. "Yes I had a bomb that was meant for you but the one that went off wasn't mine"
"Lies" she yells "I've been monitoring everyone that could be a possible threat to me and my family and you're number one on that list"
I already knew that.
"Maybe you've been looking at the wrong places" I calmly reply and slowly take out my phone and show her the information I have.
Her eyes widen as she sees the name of the person on the screen. I was also a little surprised when I found out since he technically has no reason to want to harm her rather he should be rejoiced that she's alive.
From the intel that I got it seems like Kevin and her were childhood friends so that fact that he is now trying to kill her makes it obvious that something is up and I'm not even sure that she herself knows about it.
I watch as she replays the clip of Kevin planting the bomb as if she herself could not believe it.
A few minutes goes by and I feel her starting to lose strength in her arm as the dagger is no longer pressing hard on my neck.
"Why are you showing me this?" She asks while looking at me again and shoving my phone back to me.
I smile "I want to help you" I say knowing it's a lie.
I just want to use her to kill Ava and Amelia. If I kill them myself it would be a war we don't want but if she kills them it would just be looked at as a family conflict.
As if seeing through my nonsense she chuckles coldly and looks me dead in the eye "Leave while I'm still being nice" and with that she let's go of me.
She turns around and tries to walk back but the moment she takes a step she loses balance like she's lost all the strength in her leg and almost fall but I catch her in time.
Looking at the state she's in I guess she sprung awake after feeling my pressure.
Being an assassin even in her sleep.
Impressive.
The door opens and the guards rush in and point their guns at me. Eureka raises her hand to stop them and orders them to leave while she yanks my hand away from her.
She sits on the bed and faces me"What is the real reason you're doing this?"
I figure there no need to really hid it from her since it will be a win-win situation at the end of the day.
"I have a bone to pick with Ava and Amelia" is all I say with my jaw clenched.
She title her head as if asking if that all so I sigh.
"I want them to feel the same excruciating pain my mother felt when they decided to poison her for not wanting to cooperate with them" I say.
I remember that day very clearly. I found my mom on the floor, in pain while vomiting blood. She would have died if we hadn't gotten the antidote and even that was a struggle on its own.
I see the corners of her lips start to move up and that gives me a good feeling that she might accept.
"We have a deal then" I say.
"I never said I agree" she says and I can't help but chuckle when I see her face.
"But the smile on your face says otherwise"
