Y/n POV:

I was shaken up terribly. My parents were dead and my home was destroyed. Shinjuro Rengoku was a kind man who allowed me to stay at his estate for as long as I needed, but I didn't want to overdo my stay.

On the way to his home, I was absolutely devastated but another emotion that was also prominent was anger.

Demons were the reason so many lives were destroyed. Listening to Rengoku speak about his work, I decided that I too would become a demon slayer.

I would do my best to not allow others to experience the pain of losing their loved ones.

The whole time I was, admittedly, crying. I couldn't stop no matter how much I tried. Through my teary haze, I told Rengoku my desire to become a demon slayer.

He listened intently throughout and finally pet my head gently.

"Look little one, I won't stop you, after all it is your decision. However are you sure that you want to put your life constantly on the line?"

"Yes."

"... alright then. I know of a man who can train you. I would train you myself but I have two sons to teach and my duty as Hashira takes up a lot of time. I hope you understand."

I merely nodded and for the rest of the journey, there was silence.

_______________

The moment Rengoku knocked on the door, the door swung open to reveal an enthusiastic young man.

"Greetings father! And who is this with you?" He energetically exclaimed with a beaming face.

He was practically the exact replica as his father. Except younger.

His father smiled in return.
"Ah Kyojuro, this is Y/n S/n. She will be staying with us for a while."

"I see! It's a pleasure to meet you S/n!" He bowed.

I smiled awkwardly. I must've looked a mess. My nose red and my eyes bloodshot.
"It's a pleasure to meet you too." I replied before bowing.

"Time for you to meet the rest of the family." Shinjuro smiles my way before placing a kind hand on my back and leading me inside.

Entering a room, I spotted a beautiful woman with a little boy with the exact same hair as his father's. His eyes were closed as he lay on, presumably, his mother's lap.

My eyes softened in sympathy. It was clear this woman was sick. Of what, I did not know and only prayed for her well being.

"Ruka, my dear" Shinjuro smiles warmly yet sadly at his wife.

"Shinjuro." She spoke in a gentle voice turning her head to look at me. "And who is this young lady."

"She'll be staying with us a while." He looked at me. "This is my wife, Ruka Rengoku and my youngest son, Senjuro Rengoku."

I bowed. "A pleasure to meet you."

"Likewise dear." The woman smiled slightly.

He lead me away to another room where there was a futon and some furniture.

"This is the guest room where you will be staying. Either of my sons will alert you for breakfast. If you need anything don't hesitate to ask."

"Thank you very much for your kindness Shinjuro."

"Don't mention it." With that he left closing the door behind him.

I sat on the futon deciding a nap would be good after everything ,until I heard voices right outside my door.
