Y/n POV:
"No Y/n, you'll burn yourself!" Senjuro scolded lightly whilst suppressing a small giggle.

Senjuro has been cooking some delicious tempura and you had tried to steal some.

In your defence, it smelt delicious.

Today, I am dedicating extra time with the Rengokus as tomorrow in the morning I am leaving to begin training with Urokodaki.

In the morning, I had spent time conversing with Ruka, and now I was with Senjuro and later i will spend some time with Kyojuro.

I had tried to help Senjuro with cooking but he claimed that I would burn down the whole house down.

𝘗𝘧𝘧𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘪𝘧...

So this had resulting in me chatting, with Senjuro mindlessly whilst my mouth salivated at Senjuro's amazing cooking.

He sighed as he glanced at me and smiled.

He had finished cooking and now we just had to wait for it to cool down.

"I'm going to get something so you stay here. 𝘈𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨." He eyed me suspiciously as he walked away.

The food was so tempting though... so my hand slowly crept towards the tempura.

Until suddenly I could hear little feet padding towards me. I quickly hid my hand behind my back as i looked towards where the sound came from.

Senjuro sighed but smiled and pulled my hand to sit on the mat before presenting a small bag.

He gestured for me to take it and my heart swelled.

"No! I can't take this!"

"Take it"

"No!"

"Yes!"

This banter went back and forth for awhile. Senjuro was timid at first, but once he got to know me, he was like a little brother. That acted like a big brother.

He was still sweet though.

I carefully picked up the bag.

"Sorry I couldn't get you much..."

"Don't apologise! Anything from you is precious and besides I haven't gotten you anything..."

I felt bad, truly, but we both knew that i was broke.

Opening the small bag, i could see mochi. A delicacy I hadn't eaten in a long time.

My eyes glistened with excitement.

"Mochi!" I squealed picking one out and popping it in my mouth and offering one to Senjuro with my other hand.

He shook his head whilst laughing at me.

Once i had swallowed, i engulfed him in a hug.

"Thank you so much! Gah you're so precious!"

Unbeknownst to me, he blushed at my words but i couldn't see it as he hugged me back.

The mood turned slightly somber as he mumbled. "I'll miss you."

Hugging tighter, you answered.

"Me too."

I had said my final goodbyes to Senjuro and Ruka as i headed towards my usual meeting spot with Kyojuro.

I probably had a bit of a red nose from crying slightly with the two. It felt like saying goodbye to Ruka for the last time.

"Y/n!" The familiar, cheery voice broke me out of my thoughts as i finally reached him.

He stood facing me with his smile, and that alone put a smile on my face.

"Sit with me, one last time. There's no need to train today."

We both sat on the stairs leading to the garden in silence, gazing at the stars in the night sky.

"Kyo, I'll miss you." I faced him, making him face me.
(A/n: I'm too lazy to write 'Kyojuro' so let's just say it's a nickname you gave him :)

His smile remained but his eyes softened. He brought me into a side hug and looked down at me.

"As will I but we'll see each other again. And once I've finished Final Selection I will have a crow to use to contact you." He ruffled my hair and pulled away slightly.

Without uttering a single word, he opened up my palm and put a small box on.

"What's this?"

"A small gift. Open it."

Opening to the box, I gasped. It was beautiful.
Inside was a bracelet with a flame charm on it.

"Oh, Kyo you didn't have to."

The amount of guilt I felt was unbearable. First Senjuro and now him?!

"It's true I didn't have to! But I wanted to!" He beamed at me as I slipped it onto my wrist.

I looked up at him, my eyes shining. I brought him into a hug whilst mumbling 'thank you'.

We stayed like that for awhile, until I noticed my eyelids becoming heavy.

"Hey, I think I'm going to go to bed"

I stood up, getting ready to leave, but Kyo's warm hand grabbed my wrist.

"Y/n, I want to spend as much time as I can with you. I don't mind you falling asleep on me."

He smiled at me, making my heart melt instantly.

I smiled tiredly and drowsily sat down and lay my head on his shoulder as he wrapped an arm around me.

3rd POV:
In a matter of minutes, Y/n had fallen asleep. Kyojuro smiled at the girl's sleeping figure as he noticed his heart rate quicken.

Hesitantly, he looked away and gazed at the night sky, the blush that had risen to his face slowly disappearing.

Shinjuro Rengoku stood in the hall, giving him a view of the two teens, a happy expression on his face which only broadened.

Kyojuro smiled in bliss.
"Oh, Y/n why do you make me feel this way?"
