It was my first day at Oaks View high, the book I took from the library, I placed it into my purple school bag. I gave myself a once over, checking that I looked okay. Kylo was wagging her tail next to me, and stayed close by to me. Aunt Kera peered up behind me and had her med kit with her, she helped me clean and re-dress my wound. It was still sore but I was glad it wasn't bleeding much.
"That's definitely going to leave a scar, but I had called in earlier for the nurse to check your arm at school if it get's worse okay? " Aunt Kera reassured me,
"Thank you" I nodded to her grateful for her kindness, she then hurried me along to the kitchen and fussed over that I was to eat before leaving the house.
Aunt Kera was fixing us up breakfast and had our lunch packs on the bench. I ate a few crumpets and berries, while Stacey and Daisy chugged down their shakes. Saying something along the lines of cheerleading and needing to make sure their physic was fine.
Aunt Kera gave them a nod and ushered us out into the front porch, the bus had just arrived on the opposite side of us.
"Lili here" Aunt Kera handing me my lunch pack, I smiled up at her grateful that I wouldn't be starving on my first day of surviving school.
My Aunt Kera had already prepped things in advance, so I was fine to start straight away without my aunt coming in for orientation. I was glad all I had to do was meet the principal and start class straight away, possibly because I was a student they didn't need to worry about for grades.
When selecting my extra-curricular it took me a while to really think of something that would co-exist with my own interests. Sports was compulsory and I had a few options.
Unfortunately there was no musical bone in my body, so playing or learning an instrument was scratched from the list. Drama was something I could not see myself doing, dancing was out of the question.
Spelling club nope, cheerleading was already taken. To be honest I had two left feet, and the best flexibility I've mastered at my size is hand stand...I came across the book club and took up Science as that was fairly close to my field. I was sad to hear that none of my friends were doing this curricula.
We waved goodbye to Aunt Kera as we made our way into the bus. I sat in the middle of Daisy and Stacey, we passed around gum. The girls got their phones back from our neighbor, as they said Spencer put it in the wrong mailbox.
The girls linked their arms through mine, they took me into the office to meet the Principal. I told them they could go and settle into their class, but they wanted to make sure I was settled first and also to see what classes I was in. I was very thankful for this, the school was bigger than my old school. The uniforms we were, matched the schools colours plastered on the building including the print 'IF WE ALL STRIVE FOR SUCCESS, THEN WE ALL SUCCEED'
The principal was a lady, with platinum blonde hair, she was quite elderly and wore heavy amounts of red lipstick. She was tall and slender and her voice sounded classy.
She mentioned to me that she was glad to have her school be made an example with a student like me, who has high grades. However, she added that she did not tolerate any misguidances but explained that she was excited for me to do well in my extra-curricular classes and to do well in these.
She showed me my roster, after welcoming me into Oaks View High,
"I look forward to your graduation Lilian Ara Jean". I grimaced at my full name being said a loud.
"Like wise Miss Dartter", she nodded triumphantly and carried on with her other duties. As I came out, Daisy asked me if she could look at my roster. I handed it to her.
