Chapter Five.

"Marley, wake up honey." I hear my mother's voice as her hands softly shake my body. I open my eyes slowly and then squeeze them with my fists to get a greater view. She's sitting on my bed, still wearing her pajamas.

I turn around and look at the clock on my night table, it was too early for me to be awake, even on a school day, but somehow I wasn't mad about it. "I need a favor from you."

"Sure." I mumble, closing my eyes again and snuggling back onto my pillow, which I turn around to enjoy the cold side of it.

"Could you go to the lobby and pick up our mail? It doesn't have to be right now, you can do it when you leave for school. I just can't pick it up this morning, I have an important meeting in less than an hour and I have to get ready, plus I have to prepare your breakfast." She yawns. I sigh and sit up, stretching my arms.

Then I yawn too, "I'll do it." I say in the middle of the yawning. "And don't worry about breakfast, I'm sure I can figure out something." She smiles and kisses my forehead before leaving my bedroom.

Well, I'm already awake so why not go get the mail now?

I was sleeping in my sports-bra and black track shorts plus white socks-which loved wearing everywhere, especially to bed- and I put on a pair of short classic UGG boots and a grey superman logoshirt hoodie on top.

Last but not least, I take off my retainers -yeah, I used to have braces- and brush my teeth, then fix my messy morning hair into a bun.

Once inside the elevator, I lay my back and my head against the wall and close my eyes for a moment. Last night, I stayed up too late watching all of the Toy Story movies with Burger. My mom was really mad because I let him stay past eleven, but she's usually never mad for too long.

"Excuse me, Miss?" I hear a soft voice speak, I wasn't so sure if it was talking to me but I still opened my eyes. It was an old lady standing outside the elevator. "Are you staying in this floor?" I look up and see the number one in the little screen.

"Oh, yeah, I'm sorry." The woman smiles and gets in the elevator as I walk out of it. I see a naked back facing me, head low, next to the many mail boxes. My eyes were focused in this guy's muscular back, I could stare at it forever.

But I unlock my eyes when I realize he was turning around. And he was no other than Luke Humphrey.

"Good morning, Marles." He looks at me for a second, but then glues his eyes to the many envelopes he was holding.

"Good morning." I smile and walk past him to open our mailbox. It only had about three envelopes in it. But my attention was caught by one in particular.

"Oh my God." I whisper to myself, at the same time I hear Luke say it. This particular letter was directed from Rockbourough University, and the address was handwritten so this was a letter from my brother.

"I got it!" I heard Luke say repeatedly behind me. I turned around and he hugged me and started spinning me around as if I weight nothing. And when my feet touched to ground, he stayed there, still hugging me.

My eyes were teary because of the happiness I was feeling right now and when Luke pulled away, I realized his eyes were the same. "What did you get?" I ask him.

"A scholarship for Willowdale University." He says and I hug him.

"That's amazing, Luke. Congratulations."

"Thank you. It'll be hard moving away from my family, but I'm finally achieving something on my own." He looked so happy it made me happy for some reason. "Why are you crying? Please tell me you didn't get a sad letter telling you your aunt Alice died on a car crash."
