Chapter Nine.

I couldn't sleep last night, constant thoughts of what happened outside Luke's apartment overran my mind. I wanted to go back and talk to him. I hated seeing him that upset. But I hate myself for doing as he said and leaving in the first place. I could've stayed and supported Luke. I wasn't afraid of Mason, I was afraid of them getting into a fight and Luke getting hurt.

It was already early in the morning and I haven't slept for a single minute. I sit on the edge of the bed and squeeze my eyes. I could already feel the bags under them. I walk up to my window and open it, closing my eyes in a reaction to the sunlight hitting me right in the eyes.

"Marley, you're awake!" I hear Aiden's voice and I feel his tiny arms and legs embracing my leg. I look at the digital clock on my nightstand, it showed it was seven in the morning and it sure was too early for him to be awake.

"I wonder why you are awake, bud." I say, looking down at the tiny koala hanging from my right leg.

"Aiden, your breakfast is ready!" Jade remarks walking through my bedroom's door.

"And why are you awake?" I ask her. Am I missing out on something?

"Your mom's alarm woke Aiden up and he ran to our room and woke me up." She tells me, trying to get Aiden off my leg yet not accomplishing it. The kid was stickier than glue.

"And why isn't Roxy awake?"

"Is that really a question?" She succeeds in pulling Aiden off my leg and carries him in her arms. "The earth could be shaking, hell, the world could be ending and she would still be sleeping." I laugh as I see her walk out of the room with a crying Aiden in her arms.

Once I step out of my room, I see my mom in the kitchen serving breakfast and Jade trying to keep Aiden on his chair. "Good morning mom." She directs her attention away from the plate she was transporting and right at me.

"Good morning dear, how did you sleep?" She asks me, a question I would gladly respond if I would've actually slept.

"Good," I say sounding a little unsure.

"Are you sure?" She analyzes my face. "Those bags under your eyes tell an entire different story. Mind telling me what's been bugging you?"

"Maybe later," I say in-between a yawn. "What's for breakfast?"

"Pancakes with Nutella and cream, and for you an additional cup of coffee." I loved how well she knew me.

"Yes, please." I say, almost whisper.

After finishing with my delicious plate and my very-needed cup of coffee, I go back to my room and take a warm shower. Then, I put on some ripped jeans, a black tank with a Star Wars sweatshirt on top and my favorite pair of black converse. Finally, I pull my hair up in a ponytail and grab my bag.

As I step out of the room, I see a worried mom standing by the door. She's staring at Aiden, who's jumping on the couch and singing "Shake it off" by Taylor Swift, and Jade who's sitting on the floor, covering her ears and telling Aiden to shut up.

"I'm not sure I'm okay with leaving them alone. We should get a nanny." My mother says.

"They won't be alone, mom. Roxy is here." Even I'm not sure of what I just said.

"That's what concerns me. She isn't even awake yet!" She sighs out of frustration.

"I'll go wake her up, you go to work now or you will be late. Just trust her, she's their sister, she wouldn't want anything to happen to them." I tell her, hoping to calm her down.
