Living in Auradon, specifically in the castle, was pretty great. Ever since she was ten, Kalia has been living in the castle with Adam and Belle and their son, Ben. Adam and Belle treated Kalia as if she was their own daughter and Kalia had a brother-sister type of bond with Ben.

Some of the other students don't think it's fair that Kalia has some perks because she's close friends with the royal family. Those students mainly being Audrey and Chad. Audrey is the daughter of Aurora, sleeping beauty, and Chad is the son of Cinderella. Audrey is also Ben's girlfriend and is someone who Kalia isn't a fan of.

Kalia never liked Audrey; she even tried to convince Ben to break up with her because she could see that they just weren't good together, well, at least not anymore. Ben didn't listen, he was persistent with saying that they were good together and that he still liked her. It was true Audrey and Ben were good together at the start, but as time went on Kalia could see Ben's feelings for Audrey fade. She knew that Ben was too kind to break up with Audrey even though he might need to.

Currently, Kalia was in her room, sitting on a swing made of vines and was drawing in her journal. Specifically, she was drawing a blue bird who sat on its branch by the window. The Blue Jay was Kalia's pet and animal companion named Blue. Don't judge her for the name, she named the bird when she was five years old. One of the perks of being family friends with the royal family was that she didn't have to share a room with someone. She had the choice of having a roommate, but she decided against it, preferring to have her own room.

Two knocks on her door was heard causing her to smile and say, "Come in." She didn't have to ask who was at the door because she knew it was her best friend, Ben. When they were younger, they made their own secret knock so they knew it was them when they knocked on the door.

The door opens and Ben walks inside. "So, how did it go?" Kalia questioned, referring to him telling his parents about his first proclamation.

"Good," Ben answers as he sits on her bed. He pauses for a few moments and a nervous expression form on his face. "I think."

"Okay, explain, please." Kalia tells him, looking up from her journal to look at her best friend, who was staring out the window. "I can't read your mind and you can't just not talk about what happened after saying that."

"My dad didn't seem that happy about it which is understandable. I think he wouldn't even be okay with my proclamation if it wasn't for my mom convincing him." Ben sighed, running a hand through his brunette hair.

"Well, at least he didn't yell at you." Kalia said, trying to get Ben to look at the bright side. She grimaces when he stayed silent. "He yelled at you, didn't he?"

"Just a bit." Ben admits and glances at her with a small frown. "He definitely wasn't happy with who I picked to be sent over."

Kalia stands up, closing her journal and sets it on her bedside table before she went to sit besides Ben on her bed. She puts a comforting hand on his shoulder, getting him to look at her, and she smiles reassuringly at him. "Don't worry, Benny, I'm sure everything will be just fine. The fact you want to give some villain kids a chance at a normal life shows your kind heart. I don't think anyone else would do that and because of that you're gonna be a great King."

Ben's shoulders drop with relief and he smiles brightly at her. "Thanks, Kallie," He wraps his arm around her shoulders, pulling her in for a side hug. "You're the best."

"Yeah, I am the best." Kalia grins, wrapping her arm around his shoulders. The two best friends share a laugh and she smiles slightly. "You're welcome, by the way."
