dear darling readers, my love and my heart, those who have so kindly continued supporting this story...
we have some exciting news!
as so many of you probably have heard by now, breath of the wild 2 now has a title and a release date! for those who aren't aware, the nintendo direct today was INCREDIBLE and as far as the legend of zelda goes, we got some of the best news possible. the trailer is linked to this chapter if you haven't yet seen the trailer (or if you're like me and just want to watch it on repeat all day).
so.
as has been teased before, I am going to completely overhaul this story. what that means in less intimidating words is that I am going to revise it. the heart and soul of this story will remain intact, as will its identity; but I will be reworking it from the ground up to improve it. though I like what I have written so far, there are some plot points that went nowhere, that were pointless, or just fell flat. so, I will be fixing, editing, or removing those, while simultaneously adding more substance to the story!
now, this is obviously incredibly similar to what I posted before, so what's changed? what's changed is that I now have the time to return to this story. when I made the first announcement, it was when one of my stories LTNS was complete and I was just starting to redo my other book B&W. while I did promise to rework this story, and that was my intention at the time, I simply did not have time to get to it amongst my other responsibilities, work, and school.
of course, this site provides for me no revenue, and it is completely a hobby at the moment for me to write. though I absolutely intend to become a published author, my focus for now is school and work to sustain myself - so, I wasn't willing to overwork myself by reworking two stories at the same time and unfortunately it was this story that got pushed to the side at that moment.
but now, progress on b&w is going wonderfully and I'm well ahead of my original schedule for it, so some time has opened up for me. not only that, but motivation for this story in particular has returned.
so!
I am incredibly excited for what this story has in store, but before revisions start, I've got some questions for you all to help guide it!
first off, would you all prefer to keep the second-person perspective that the original utilized? though I prefer writing in first, I will maintain the pov of the original if you all want it!
secondly, I'll adopt a schedule similar to what I use for b&w to update. for that story, I update every monday and friday but while the days likely won't be the same, I want to see if it would be preferable to take it down in sections or all at once, or something else entirely.
for b&w, because it was separated into "books", I'm taking them down a book at a time and redoing them like that so the entire story is never down at any one time; since this story will be rewritten, I'll likely adopt the same method of organizing it into sections to make it easier (since it'll probably be getting longer too!)
so, would it be easier to take it down in sections or preferable to take it down all at once? I've no preference, so it's up to you guys!
lastly, and this doesn't pertain to the rewrite, but how excited are you for botw2? while interest for writing this story has waned, my love for the legend of zelda series never has and I'm so excited to dive back into it.
(side note, I went to fan expo boston a few weeks back and among other things, bought myself a steel replica of the master sword! so that's a thing!)
this story will perhaps earn itself a sequel if botw2 inspires me enough (which is probably very likely), so there are some exciting things coming.
now, I'm putting this here to inform you all, and to keep myself accountable: revisions for this story will start by or well before november 1. if that seems soon, good. I want to give this story enough time to get published before botw2 gets released.
keep myself accountable, and keep myself writing - that's my goal.
so... thoughts on this? I'm so incredibly blown away by all the continued incoming support for this story, messy though it is. I promise this story will be made into something special, and I hope you will enjoy it.
thank you all so much for reading, and for supporting - it means more to me than I'll ever be able to say. with that said, love you all lots, and I'll see you in the next update. <3
