The Divine Beast circled far above their heads, and yet it seemed incredibly close. It was far too elevated to be reachable, at least by himself and at least alone, but its weight was so immense and its purpose so great that Link felt he could reach out and touch it if he only wanted to.

But he did not want to. This was Revali's Beast, not his own. His own duties lie elsewhere.

Still, it was a damn impressive sight, but one must argue what the purpose would be for a race capable of flight to need more flight, but he supposed that argument could be made similarly for each of the Beasts. He wondered, briefly, what his own Divine Beast might look like if the goddesses only deemed him worthy of one.

Hm. Perhaps he could make his own.

As he stood there on the landing pad, he figured he would be content if he could just stay here and appreciate the view for a while. Rito Village, so high up and with air so thin, was cold, especially so far into Hebra as it was. The chill was one he could manage, and it was one he was used to, and it was one he did not particularly mind.

But when the wind picked up all of a sudden, he realized the quiet sanctity of the moment was about to end. He figured it would have only been a matter of time, after all. From somewhere far below the landing pad to somewhere high above went Revali, those navy feathers of his standing out spectacularly against the cheerful daytime sky behind him, etched out like a canvas. He was the moving subject of that painting with his proud figure, brilliant plumage, and pompous expression.

Revali alighted on the wooden fence lining the launch pad just before him with the grace of a dancer and if Link didn't know any better, he'd have thought Revali was completely weightless. The wood did not so much as bow beneath his weight and perhaps less of a testament to those who built it, it served more as proof of how masterful the Rito Champion was as his craft. With the eye of an eagle, the precision of a heron, the speed of a peregrine, and the silent flight of an owl, Revali was perfectly suited for his work - and he made sure everyone knew it.

"Impressive, I know," Revali said, just proving that which Link already knew.

He fought the urge to speak out - the princess was not here to overhear, but it would not be respectful. If Revali could do one thing it was squabble, and there was no doubt in Link's mind that he would blab right to the princess about the disrespect should Link entertain the thought further. Revali crossed his feathers over his chest and looked down his beak at the swordsman who fought back his sigh as best he could.

"Very few can achieve a mastery of the sky," Revali went on to say. With a grand wave of his wings, he said, "Yet I have made an art of creating an updraft that allows me to soar. It's considered to be quite the masterpiece of aerial techniques, even among the Rito."

Pose after pose, self-praise after self-praise. Didn't he get tired?

"With proper utilization of my superior skills," Revali said, looking right at Link, "I see no reason why we couldn't easily dispense with Ganon." He then hopped off the fence and approached Link, who stayed perfectly still. "Now then, my ability to explore the firmament is certainly of note... But let's not - pardon me for being so blunt - let's not forget the fact that I am the most skilled archer of all the Rito."

Yes, Link supposed he might have mentioned that once or twice.

"Yet despite these truths, it seems that I have been tapped to merely assist you," Revali continued as he circled around Link. "All because you happen to have that little darkness-sealing sword on your back. I mean, it's just... asinine. Unless," he paused, and Link knew this was because he'd just had a brilliant idea, "you think you can prove me wrong?"
