Emma tucked her hair behind her ear. The wind was blowing on a hot school day as she was leaving to go home. The grass and trees swayed from the wind, the chatter for students filled the air and Emma sighed as she was unable to find Alex to go home with.
"I swear, if he skips anymore classes... huh?" Emma muttered under her breath before noticing a small crowd at the front of the school gate. Curious, she sped up her walk to see what the other students were gawking at.
"Wow, look at him, he's my type!" a voice rose from the depths of idle chatter.
"Do you think he's waiting to pick up a sibling? I'm gonna wait to see so I can ask them about him!" another voice squealed.
"I'll give you 20 bucks if you go and ask for his number." a third voice giggled.
The closer Emma got, the more curious she became. Finally passing the school gate, she saw a tall, handsome man with blonde hair and grey eyes leaning against the school's wall. He glanced at students that were passing by, trying to find someone. It wasn't easy with the crowd around him, but he didn't let them bother him. Emma continued to walk as she stared at him. He noticed her and approached her.
"You... I've been waiting for a while to ask you something." he said, walking up to her.
Emma looked behind her to see if he was talking to someone else.
"You are Emma Winters, yes?" he asked, tilting his head slightly.
"T-That's me, yeah... Do I know you?" she asked, looking at him.
"No, I'm only here to ask you some questions." he shook his head.
"I'm sorry... I don't really know you and I'd rather get home now." Emma backed away, feeling a little unsettled.
"I apologise for making you uncomfortable, but I need information on the person named Alex. I heard you and him are close, so I wanted to know if you knew anything about his trauma."
Looking back at him, Emma gave him a confused look, "Alex's...? Who are you? Why do you want to know?"
Straightening his posture, he answered, "My name is Klein Klaus. I want to help Alex."
Emma was unsure about trusting him. She felt the stares of jealousy striking her back so she asked Klein to walk with her.
"Alex and I are acquaintances. We go to a... club of sorts. We play a few card games there and I couldn't help but notice he was holding himself back." Klein chatted about him as he walked with Emma.
"Yeah, I can tell, we have the same thing back at the school." Emma nodded, smiling.
"He must be very popular there. He's truly a remarkable player." Klein complimented.
"Remarkable? Not really. He's not that great." Emma gave him a bit of a skeptical look.
"Really? I've seen him win every game he's played."
"Alex? Are you sure we're talking about the same person?"
"He goes to your school and lives in the same apartment complex, doesn't he? Used to work at a convenience store. Plays with Elemental HEROs. Very confident and outgoing. Used to live off of the money left from his parents until it ran out. Had a job fairly far from here. Can't use any other monsters."
"You hit every nail on the head except for the confident and going part. Wait, how do you know that much about him? Also, he had a job? I'm sure he still goes there."
Klein didn't answer immediately. Wearing a deep thinking expression, he pondered on how to answer her questions.
"Hello? You there, Klein?" Emma waved her hand in front of his face.
