"Interesting." Micheal said as he ingested the information Klein had told him, "But I want to know why you decided to help him."
Klein stood staring out the window in the small apartment overlooking the decrepit town. He turned around to look at Micheal sitting on a reclining sofa.
"Because I want to test my cards! The rest of us in the so-called top 5 refuse to accept my challenges, or anyone else's for that matter." Klein snapped.
"Well, the order was decided a long time ago. Also we all have dueled each other a ridiculous amount of times. It gets boring."
"Please. I keep making newer and newer cards and yet none of you are even interested. To think I used to be in a team with you people. It's like your heart isn't in the game anymore."
"I think it was your obsession of beating us and making perfect cards that drove us to this point, Klein. We have fought you plenty of times, but you lost every time, remember?"
"I did, and I kept getting better and better. I got closer to achieving that each and every duel! I know you want a real challenge. I can deliver that, so why won't you duel me?"
"I already told you. It gets boring. You even lost to Alex."
Klein turned away from him, "I didn't lose to him. I was barely using half my deck-"
"Alright, alright, I get it. Can we get back to the topic at hand now?" Micheal steered Klein away from more ramblings.
"Fine. All I want to know is why you brought him here." Klein cut straight to the point.
"Do I really need a reason?"
"You have literally never shown interest in other people. It doesn't make any logical sense. The only thing you want is to experience the rush of facing someone just as skilled as you."
Micheal stayed quiet for a moment before answering, "He reminded me of myself-"
"Cut the bullshit, Micheal." Klein turned around to glare at him.
"Fine. The Clerk asked me to."
"He did? This doesn't make any sense..."
"He said if I bring him in here, he will turn this whole place upside down. Give me the challenge I want."
Klein furrowed his brow as he thought.
"I still don't understand anything about this place. Isn't it weird, Micheal? We've been here since the beginning and no one has ever seen the person behind all of this. All we were told is to keep it a secret and to not get caught."
"I stopped questioning it a long time ago. It's best if you do too."
"Come on, Micheal! Isn't it weird? Especially with the Clerk. Nobody even knows his name!"
Micheal stood up, "Klein, the finals are about to start, so I'll be taking my leave."
Klein folded his arms, "Since when do you watch tournament matches?"
"Trust me, you'll want to see this one too."
"Welcome, one and all, to the Group 1 Final! Alex versus Raine! A long awaited rematch and one that's sure to be a blast! If you've seen their duel before, then you already know it's going to be just as good, if not better!" Marie cheered as Alex and Raine reached their respective places on the dueling field.
The crowd roared with excitement. Alex felt his gut wrench as he looked at Raine.
"Wow, you look terrible. Don't tell me you couldn't sleep thinking of how embarrassing your loss would be?" Raine taunted him.
