The next day

"Blanc, someone from the capital came early in the morning to escort the brothers to the capital." Chief Aguilar directly informed Cheuse when their call connected.

Cheuse calmly listens to the other line's report as she leisurely eats her breakfast. It's already eleven in the morning, and it is supposed to be lunchtime, but she got up late so she's eating for both breakfast and lunch. Her brother is also eating lunch beside her.

"Did you inform them about the two who were already dead?" Cheuse asked.

"Yes. I told them. They did not say anything as the two criminals were killed by their own brother and not us." Chief Aguilar sighed on the other line. "Good thing that the process went smoothly. There can be times that those people from the capital are unreasonable and always make things difficult for us."

"Hmmm," Cheuse hummed as a sign that she agreed with his statement. "Is that all?" She asked.

The other line went silent for a while before coughing lightly. "Yes, that's all. I already told you everything. I'm hanging up now." Seconds later, the phone call disconnected.

Cheuse put down her phone on the table and was about to continue eating her brunch when she noticed a pair of curious eyes staring at her. "Stop it, Austin."

Faust continued staring at her big sister and couldn't help but ask, "You didn't tell me anything about what happened yesterday." The tone of his voice sounds like he's accusing her of abandonment.

Cheuse paused for a while before looking at her younger brother. "Do I still need to narrate all the things that happened last night? Can't you just figure it out yourself?"

He can definitely do that but he wants to hear it personally from his big sister. His mouth started pouting and murmured something, enough for Cheuse to hear. "I want to hear it from you."

This time, it was Cheuse's turn to stare at her younger brother. After a while, her heart couldn't help but soften. "Fine. I'll tell you everything after we finish eating."

Faust's face immediately brightened up. He thought that her big sister really loved him and couldn't resist her cuteness. "Okay, sister."

Well, it's true. Cheuse certainly couldn't resist her younger brother, not because of his cuteness but due to the fact that he was the only family member left by her parents to her before they were gone to another place. She spoils him to no end and she gets him whatever he wants. Good thing that her younger brother is not the spoiled brat type of kid. He's sensible and always listens to her and their aunt.

Suddenly, Lachita entered the dining room.

Cheuse and Faust both looked at their aunt as she walked towards the table and sat on the vacant chair. She then dropped her head on the table.

"What happened, aunt?" Faust curiously asked as he chewed a mouthful of rice.

"I'm sleepy," Lachita replied in a low voice like she was really sleepy.

Cheuse looked at the time on the clock before looking back at Lachita, who was burying her head on her elbows. "What did you do last night that you feel sleepy?"

Pinalabas ni Lachita ang mukha at tumingin ng masama sa pamangkin. "You forgot that it's your fault? I slept late because I have to cook you a late-night dinner and I still have to wake up early because I have a business to run."

Cheuse cleared her throat. "I apologize for that, Aunt."

"Whatever. I'm going back." Lachita said as she rolled her eyes. She stood up and walked out of the dining room.
