"Ini-report na sa akin lahat ng batang iyon ang nangyari kanina."
Cheuse listened as Chief Aguilar informed her of the things that had happened after they caught the criminals, oh, she forgot that it was just a criminal.
"Bata? Are you referring to Chief Muran?" Cheuse chuckles as she questions Chief Aguilar.
Chief Aguilar let out a simple hum. "I can refer to him any name that I want. I'm his senior brother."
"What an unreasonable old man." Komento ni Evory na nakaupo sa driver's seat at nagmamaneho.
Pauwi na sila at nakasakay ang dalawa sa kotse ni Evory na kanila ring ginamit papunta sa Terrace. Evory has a driver's license that she obtained when she turned eighteen last summer vacation.
"Was that Miss Quinton's voice I heard?"
'It looks like the guy on the other line heard Eve's comment.' Cheuse glanced sideways and gave Evory a smirk. "Yeah, she said you're an unreasonable old man." She repeated it even though she knew that Chief Aguilar could hear it crystal clear.
"Fuck! Gosh, I believe in this bitch." Cheuse heard Evory's whispers.
The call is on loudspeaker so the two girls can hear the Chief's sigh.
"Enough with that, ladies. I still have things to say before I end the call," He said.
"Alright, continue," Cheuse said as she leaned her back comfortably.
"The hacker that was with the thief is a criminal with multiple records from different countries. The higher-ups from the Capital also inform us that the guy is associated with someone from the Republic, and he was granted a 'Special Island Candidate' number by the judges themselves because of how heavy his crimes were."
"Damn! The Republic? That's crazy, girl." Evory couldn't but comment on the side.
Cheuse nodded. "What happened after we left? Did those people from the Capital send someone to escort the criminal?"
'Yes, they did. After I called and reported everything to them, they immediately sent the nearest escort team, and minutes later, they arrived riding a helicopter. After confirming their identity, I gave them the criminal and the leader informed me that they will send the criminal to the port where the ship that is destined for the island is docked."
'Ship? No ship or other form of vehicle other than a submarine is allowed on the island.' Cheuse thought inside her head.
"Did you also inform them about the thief that was killed by the animals in the forest?" Cheuse inquired."I did, but since he's already dead, the higher-ups were less likely to be concerned about him. Also, he's not 'SIC' so they don't genuinely care about him."
The car suddenly stopped. Cheuse looked outside and saw a familiar sign. They finally arrived at her Aunt's pub.
"That's true. It was just unfortunate that he got killed by an animal though. Maybe he can still change." Cheuse sighed gently. Then, she noticed Evory was giving her a side-eye.
"He stabbed someone." Chief Aguilar sighed. "Maybe you are right, but then again, we still have to investigate further about these thieves that keep on appearing in our city recently."
"That is true." Cheuse unbuckles her seatbelt. "Is there anything else?"
"Oh, one last thing. That lady whose boyfriend got stabbed by the thief said she wants to meet you again after her boyfriend is done recuperating in the Capital."
'I knew it.'
"Alright, I understand. Was that all? If there's nothing else, I'll hang up now."
"Yes"
