Chapter 5

Erina

I was sighing while flipping every pages containing different kinds of gowns in front of me.

Three days from now nalang kasi ay debut ko na and it means that just two days from now, the senior's prom night will be held.

I can't still forget what happened yesterday, how his lips touched mine.

"Hey, have you chosen already?" napalingon ako sa pinto ng kinalalagyan nang bumukas ito at pumasok sa loob si Anne bago tumabi sa kinauupuan kong sofa.

"I'm still waiting for the dresses to try on" umusog ako palapit sa kaniya at hinilig ang ulo sa balikat nito.

"You think I should really put a grand party for my birthday?" I sighed.

"You don't have to ask me, if you want a simple one then ask your dad, or convince him rather" she rested her back on the sofa and I also did.

"Isa pa si Daddy, he's going home tomorrow evening but he already made sure that everything's ready. Hindi naman sa ayaw ko but I realized that it would be so tiring for me." I said.

"Think of it, it's your eighteenth and this will be once in your lifetime, why not just enjoy it right?" she crossed her arms.

"You're right but I'm also preparing for the senior's prom night, I'll be Lisander's date" I faced her pouting.

Napaalis ito agad mula sa pagkakasandal sa sofa na kinauupuan namin bago nakataas ang kilay nito akong hinarap.

"Are you kidding me?" nakataas pa din ang kilay nito habang mariing nakatingin sa akin.

"Of course not" agad akong umiling.

"Have you asked him already?" tanong nito.

"I already did" I proudly nodded my head.

"And what did he answered you?" she asked still doubting.

"He said he's not coming" napayuko naman ako nang sabihin 'yon.

Narinig ko ang malakas nitong buntunghininga.

"At least he didn't said no to me, there's a big chance that he's coming. Mabuti nalang 'yon kesa naman tinanggihan niya ako diba?" I said trying to make her understand.

"You're hopeless. And how sure are you that he'll change his mind and come?" nanunuya niyang tanong.

Sometimes she's really savage and say words without filter but that makes her real.  She's not my only best friend if she's not like that, and I'm really thankful because she's here with me.

I stood up from sitting when I saw the door opened and three people came in with hanged dresses. I just shrugged at her.

"Miss Alvarade, here's few of our dresses you can try on" she showed me the dresses in front and the other two people she's with exited the room after placing the dresses in front of me.

Lumapit ako sa mga ito bago kinuha ang kulay pula. Anne was still sitting while fondling something in her phone.

Sinamahan ako ng babae papasok sa isa sa mga fitting room at tinulungan akong isuot ang damit na kinuha. I just put my long hair in a messy bun to prevent it from getting pulled while trying on the gown.

Lumabas ako at humarap sa malawak at malaking salamin sa harap ni Anna. I twirled around and faced her.

"What do you think?" I asked her while feeling the sequins on the gown I'm wearing.

"The sleeves are too loose" she pointed out and she's right. The see through sleeves of the gown is too lose in my arms.

"Should I try another one?" I asked.
