When Atreus looks around the house & its surroundings to see what happened & when he did, he then goes to say....
Atreus: Whoa.... how did this happen?
The duo then goes into the canyon that is steadily forming & crumbling at the same time & as they go through it Atreus then follows up with....
Atreus: Who were they?
Kratos simply responds with...
Kratos: I do not know.
Atreus: What did they want with us.....?
We're nobodies...... Did you kill them?
Kratos: No.... the bigger one left, while the other one stayed behind & I did what I had to do.
Hearing this & knowing the intense battle that took place Atreus then goes to say....
Atreus: You could have died.... Never have me alone again.... All right?
Kratos simply replies with...
Kratos: Alright.
They then reach the end of the road that could be traveled on foot & that the only way forwards was by climbing the crumbling earthen wall in front of them to which Kratos gave Atreus one single word & that is...
Kratos: Up.
The duo then proceed to climb the crumbling earth wall, or specifically Kratos climbing the earthen wall with Atreus simply riding on his father's back, & as they continue with the climb towards a possible opening, Atreus goes to say....
Atreus: You've had to kill people before, haven't you....? You're used to it.
Kratos: We do what we must to survive.
Atreus: Animals, I get. They're food. Draugr.... they're supposed to be dead. But people.... they're trying to survive too.
Hearing this Kratos gives Atreus his peace on this topic & goes to tell him....
Kratos: Close your heart to it...... On our journey, we will be attacked by all manner of creature.
Close your heart to their desperation..... Close your heart to their suffering.
Do not allow yourself to feel for them..... They will not feel for you.
Atreus only responds with....
Atreus: I understand.
Kratos: Hopefully however, It would not come to that point to where you would experience it.
Atreus: Why....? Wouldn't be better for me to actually experience it?
Kratos: No.... It would not.... When you take the life of an animal, it is simply to feed yourself & your family.
But when it is another person that you are about to kill, you will question yourself whether or not that you can or you should.... & whether or not you killed them in defense or by choice, it will forever be in your memory & how they look at you when they die....
It is something that you will remember till the end of your days.... It is a burden....
A burden that will forever weigh on your shoulders & that will forever stay in your mind, where it would keep reminding you of what you did.... of what everything that you have done.....
