CHAPTER-8 A Worthy Opponent

Ash and his new acquaintance went to the Lumiose gym and what he got was a bitter surprise. He was almost electrecuted but Pikachu destroyed it. They met the Gym leader's little sister bonnie and The gym leader himself Clemont.

Both Heliolisk and Pikachu stood face to face against each other. They had faces similar to that of their trainers, one with sheer determination. Ash started the match "Lets begin with a Thundervolt bud!" As Pikachu released a powerful Thundervolt towards Heliolisk but it just stood there and took it head on. "Hmm, Lightning rod ability huh?" Ash pondered. "Correct! And I'm safe to assume that your Pikachu has Static ability, Now your only option to attack is call back your choice or attack with a non lightning move." Clemont explained eyeing Ash carefully, wearing a smile on his face.

In the Stands

"Hmm! What will Aaron do now?" Trevor pondered loudly. "Well we warned him, Clemont isn't an easy trainer to beat, considering his reputation! I'm rooting for Clemont!" Shauna chimed in. "Well he is considered as the next elite 4 member, doesn't surprise me!" Tierno replied. "My big bro's awsome isn't he?!" Bonnie exclaimed excitedly. But the only one who didn't say a word was Serena. "I don't think this match is over yet." She said. The rest turned towards her. "What do you mean?! Clemont's obviously gonna win this!" Tierno said back. He still didn't like her taking his side of course. "He's Smiling!?" Trever asked shockingly.

Back to the battle

As the battle was on, Clement was amazed to see his opponent smiling. All his opponents usually gets frustrated with a move like this. After all this type of techniques usually puts a trainer a little nervous and frustrated. He knew he was battling a seasoned trainer this time. "Alright! Pikachu quick attack! Combine it with Irontail!" Ash ordered. Clemont was snapped out of his thought. "Dodge it Heliolisk!!" Clemont called out. Heliolisk was able to dodge but Ash had another one coming. "Buddy! Irontail on the ground! Shake up the ground and make him lose its momentum!! Then repeat the combo!!" Pikachu did just that. Heliolisk had lost the balance and was about to be hit but "Heliolisk!! Lets use their tactic against them!! Use Earthquake! Then Wild charge!" The tide of the battle had just been reversed as Pikachu got hit by the attack.

Clemont but hadn't celebrated, he kept his serious look. 'I can't let my Guard down. Not even once! They are quite cunning! I don't think he's done!' Clemont was a bit satisfied the attack landed on Pikachu. Pikachu was thrown by the force towards the wall. At the speed he would take considerable damage too, but Our unpredictable hero had a plan "Pikachu use Thundervolt aim it towards the wall to slow yourself! Then use Quick attack to rebound and catch him off guard!!" Pikachu send a powerful Thundervolt and rebound using a quick attack He then slams his Irontail ont Heliolisk's head. "Heliolisk!!" Clemont cried out. He tried to be careful but cought off guard.

In the stands

"What an amazing match!" Trevor shrieked. "Both are giving it all they got, and both being electric types means they cancle each other out!" He contined. "I never knew Aaron was this powerful!" Shauna said. "None of us did!" Came Tierno's reply. "But how are they pulling this off ?!" Tierno asked pretty excited. "Its because of Immense Trust." Serena was the one who said it this time. "What do you mean?" Shauna asked. "Back when I was in Sinnoh I was amazed by a Top coordinator of our age pulling crazy combo's. I asked her how she was doing it. Her Name was Dawn Berlitz. Her answer was that The immense trust between a trainer and  pokemon leads to this. I think its the reason both Clemont and Aaron are able to pull off those crazy moves!" She replied. Evereone just stared at the battleground again.

In the ground

Ash saw Heliolisk's head smacked to the ground and still managed to get up. 'Hmm, his reputation proceeds him. To take Pikachu's Irontail and still standing.' An excited smile crept upon hos face. This is what it meant to be in a battle. He laughed there like a maniac make all those present at the gym look at him. "What's with the sudden laugh?" Clemont asked with a confused expression. Ash noticed this as well. Most people would either criticize him or get infuriated at this act but here was a guy who was genuinely confused. 'I guess he could be someone who could be an awsome ally.' Ash smiled at him.
