LEIA | ADAMOS

Not many people have the courage to look their abusers in the eye and ask them exactly why they enjoyed hurting you.

Neither did I until this moment.

Me and Kylo got a letter on Christmas Day, some hours after we had dinner at May's and exchanged our cheap gifts.

It was our father, essentially requesting us to pay him a visit at the Raft.

Unsurprisingly, Kylo refused to see him. I don't blame him for saying no, my dad put Kylo through so much more than what he put me through.

I'm not sure what came over me when I agreed, but it's a little late to go back now.

Maybe I figured I could get some answers out of him, ask him why he's like this.

Nobody's just born with the will to intentionally hurt others. Especially their own family.

I wipe my sweaty palms on my jeans, my limbs shaking slightly as I get nearer to his cell, following the hench guard's footsteps anxiously.

For some comfort, I begin playing with the sleeve of Peter's sweater that I stole from him a few days ago, wishing he was here with me.

It's been more than three days since Peter left, and I've had zero updates on how he is.

I pursuaded Peter to take his phone with him so he could update me on how the mission is going, yet he hasn't answered a single one of my text messages since yesterday.

"Here he is." The guard announces, unlocking a door to a large, grey room with a medium sized glass cell in the corner.

My heart almost fails when I make eye contact with my father, wearing a smile that makes me sick to my stomach.

"We'll be right outside if anything." The guards nod before leaving me in the room.

Alone with my father.

"Why do you look so scared?" He asks me, sitting on his jail bed with a book in his hands.

Is he really asking me that question?

"Well for starters, you killed my mom." I blurt. "You almost killed me. Oh- and how could I forget? You sent one of your buddies to stalk us in New York!"

He tuts, putting his book down. "I knew Adonis wouldn't be able to make it back alive. What happened to him?"

"Kylo knocked him out and tossed him into the trash outside." I shrug. "He probably got sucked into a garbage truck and died in a landfill."

"That's my boy." Dad says proudly, and I give him a dirty look.

His boy? The same boy he traumatised day and night for every single day of his life?
