"It's August!", I entered the kitchen with a spring in my step and a grin on my face, "the best month of the year, with the best birthdays in it".
"Preach", Theo, who I hadn't even noticed was in here, raised his can of Fanta in the air and sipped it.
"I agree", Zane smirked, "what are your plans for today mi amor?".
"Graham gave me the day off work, so I'm going to see Ezra", it'd been a week since he walked out of my house, and apparently I couldn't go five minutes without him because as soon as my trial at work ended I drove straight to his house.
He apologised and told me where he was coming from, I apologised and did the same, then we made out and made up. Simple as that. He'd even gone the extra mile and come into work the following day; he and Nico were introduced and actually seemed to get on okay. Aside from the odd questioning look from Ezra and the rambling from Nico, that is.
"Morning to a fraction of my favourite people", Xav appeared out of nowhere with Ash trailing behind him.
"Way to make us feel special", I muttered, a frown covering my face when I looked at Theo again, "where's Cay?".
"Question of the- of the hour", he shrugged.
"He's still asleep?", I asked Zane who shrugged one shoulder, "I'll go see". I kneeled down and ruffled Ash's fur before standing again and heading upstairs, tapping my fist on Cay's door a good few times.
"Cay? You awake?", I stepped back when the handle rattled, then the door opened; my brother was standing there, looking down at me with red eyes, shirtless, and a towel around his waist, "are you okay?".
"I'm okay", he nodded, proceeding to sniff, "Theo's here right?".
"Yeah...downstairs", I replied slowly and he nodded, sniffing again, "are you sure you're okay?".
"Nope", he smiled, his teary eyes portraying a completely different emotion, "send him up here yeah?".
"Sure", I moved away cautiously, confused on what had caused my brother to be crying so early in the day.
I sent Theo up to my brother's room in an instant, who knows what was happening in there, and plopped myself onto the sofa, pulling out my phone. I had a text from Ezra, five minutes ago - telling me he'd been roped into working on a car with his dad for the day...brilliant.
Now I was back to square one.
"Hey Zane?", I called out to my brother, not bothering to look over my shoulder.
"Mi amor?", he replied in the same tone.
"What are you doing today?", I asked, tossing my phone between my hands, "Ezra cancelled".
"I'm supposed to be taking Phoenix for lunch", he sighed, "but if you-,".
"No, don't cancel your plans because of me", I shook my head, "I'm sure someone around here isn't occupied".
~
I was wrong.
Nobody was free.
All of my brothers were either out, going out, or asleep; my friends were all occupied for various reasons, and I was officially fucking bored.
