Brothers taking care of Izzy when she's sick
Xander
Our sister was a force of fucking nature.
My brothers and I had had to adapt to having a girl under the roof - you know, the perfumes that burnt my sinuses, the periods, the hair everywhere, the boy talk.
I was the only one who participated in boy talk before, and that was only to Xav.
Anyway, having Isabella had taught me a lot of shit, and I was learning new things everyday. Today's life lesson was that periods and the flu don't mix.
At fucking all.
"I think one of us is gonna die today", Xav scurried into the room like a mouse being chased by a cat, he glanced over his shoulder and exhaled slowly, "she's gonna kill us bro".
"It can't be that bad", I scoffed, screwing the top of the hot water bottle I'd just filled, "it's a stomach ache and a runny nose, I've been shot for fuck's sake".
"Say that shit to her and you won't step back out of that room", he jabbed a finger at me, "death wish".
"Who has a death wish?", Caleb entered the room, duffle bag thrown over his shoulder and a large flask in one hand.
"Xan", my twin muttered, "Izzy's sick, and it's lady time". Lady time.
"Is she okay?", he dropped the bag as his eyebrows furrowed, "why didn't you say anything?".
"Were we meant to scream it from the fucking rooftops?", I scoffed, "apparently she's one sarcastic remark away from killing us".
"You better stay away then", he snorted, "I'll go check on her".
"Good luck", Xav shivered.
"Take this", I tossed the hot water bottle at him and he caught it, "ask her if she wants any food".
"Yes sir", he muttered, turning on his heel and leaving the room, his heavy-ass footsteps retreating up the stairs.
"Do you think- I dunno, she wishes she had a female figure in her life?", Xav's question made me freeze, the guy had no chill when it came to questions, "do you think we're doing enough?". I thought for a moment, I'd not considered what he'd just said once.
"She had Mum for 13 years", I shrugged, "I guess a part of her will always want her back- but I think we're doing just fine".
"So you think she tells us everything she would to her?", he asked and I scratched my head.
"Yeah, I do", I confirmed, "she trusts us, we trust her, she'll be fine".
"I'll take your word for it", he mumbled and I smirked.
"Good", I hummed in satisfaction and he rolled his eyes, both of us pausing when Caleb returned.
"She's asking for Zane", he revealed, "I've never seen her so...whatever that was".
"Told you", Xav muttered, "she's gonna transform into something up there".
"Well Zane's out with Marco somewhere", I shrugged, "he's busy".
"He's never busy when it comes to her, or us", Caleb replied, "call him".
"We don't need to disturb him, Cub, he-", I was cut off by the groan of our sister upstairs and cursed, "I'll go, call him in five minutes". I didn't stick around, I took the stairs two at a time and all but burst into Izzy's room, the sight of her curled up and clutching her stomach making my jaw clench.
