I sat as I often did, up against my desk in my sweet wooden chair. I couldn't help my eyes from watching out the tall lead lined windows that overlooked the grounds of the fair house. The perfectly trimmed grass, the sweetly manicured trees, the sweet flowers that seemed to fade into the autumnal foliage.

The ticking of the clock.

The crackling of the fire wood being slowly cracked and broken by the flames.

The gentle sound of the wind whistling through the small gaps in the windows.

I heard this rush of feet on the hardwood and occasional muffling from the rugs.

There were two solid taps on the door so I sat up and faced the door.

"Yes?" I asked and the door opened "ah Good afternoon Oliver" I smiled

"Afternoon Madam. He uhh he needs to see you. In the drawing room"

"Yes, I'll go at once" I nodded, gathering my dress and heading through the house and headed to the drawing room.

Immediately I noticed upon entering the room, that the shutters had all been closed up, the fire burning but burning low, barely a candle or light of any sort lit the room. The various sofas and chairs about the place along with lots of other various things.

I noticed him faced away from me staring at the fire a crystal glass of scotch or perhaps whiskey in his hand. His arm on the wall beside the fireplace. I could just see the reflection in the mirror of his face. He seemed unhappy.

"Good afternoon darling" I smiled tenderly stepping foot on the rug Infront of the fire he didn't move so I didn't step further

"Something has happened" he says

"Happened? To what degree"

"He's dead. Four o'clock this afternoon. I- I would have gone down, I knew he was that unwell"

"I see" I nodded holding my hands tightly "well... we always knew to some extent this was, to happen" I explained "I am so sorry darling"

"It's alright. I've asked for them to keep us posted. Have them sew you a new dress for the proceedings" I explained

"Jake. The last thing I need in this madness of a house is yet another dress"

"True" he chuckled "but something else has happened"

"What is it?"

"Something... that was had always feared"

"No?"

"Yes. Uncle max has turned it down. We are to meet in villia all of us. It appears... things have come into play"

"I see. What does that mean... for us?"

He turned and sipped his drink leaning on the chair

"It means... things are about to change"

"I see. Well, admittedly we didn't expect this but at the same time we both knew it could never be completed ruled out, it may not be the life we wanted but my support and love of you will remain the same"

He smiled putting his drink down wrapping his arms around me pulling us closer Into a kiss

"Thank you pet."
