Jake is lying on his bed, on his back, with his laptop on his chest. He's trying to get his latest pirated movie, and waiting for it to download the progress is as slow and frustrating as it often was.

Suddenly a familiar playfully tap comes from his door and Y/n heads inside in her little grey plaid pinafore, and her pigtails. "Hi kitty," she cooed kissing his forehead as she tossed her bag on the floor

He looks up at her, a big goofy grin spreading across his face. "Heyyy, there's my Y/n," he beams up at her, "This thing is almost done downloading, then we can party." His eyes light up with excitement, and he shifts slightly to make room for her beside him.

she knelt down on the bed climbing in with him and laying her head on his chest

He wraps his arms around her, pulling her close as he continues to watch the download progress. "Mmm, you smell like fresh laundry," he whispers, burying his nose in her hair. "I love it when you wear that pinafore." His fingers absently stroke her arm, feeling a sense of comfort wash over him.

"like laundry? Do you think it's the laundry softener?"

He chuckles softly, his chest vibrating beneath her ear. "No, I mean it smells like...you know, clean clothes straight from the dryer," he says, trying to clarify. "It's really nice." As he speaks, his hand drifts up to gently brush a strand of hair behind her ear.

"comforting?"

"Yeah, comforting," he agrees, his voice low and soothing. "You always smell so good, Y/n." He pauses, lost in thought for a moment before continuing. "But I'm glad you're home. I've got a problem."

"oh? Is it the slow WiFi?" She asked,

He shakes his head, a hint of frustration creeping into his expression. "No, it's worse than that," he says, his brow furrowing in concentration. "It's... chemistry problems."

"ooh..." She said sheepishly hiding her little face "But I'm not good at chemistry kitty"

His eyes crinkle at the corners as he smiles, his face relaxing into a warm, gentle expression. "Oh, come on," he teases, reaching out to gently tug on her hair. "I'm sure you're plenty good enough for me." He leans in close, his voice dropping to a whisper. "Besides, I'll help you study... if you promise to be my lab partner."

she softly nodded

A pleased smile spreads across his face as he nods, seeming to accept her agreement. "Okay, deal," he says, holding out his hand for a high-five to seal their partnership."Now, where were we?"

she high fives and then intertwined their fingers

His eyes light up with delight as he intertwines their fingers, his grip softening into a gentle hold. "Much better," he whispers, leaning in close to nuzzle her hand against his cheek. "Now, let's get back to those chemistry problems..." He sets his laptop down and pulls out a textbook and begins flipping through its pages, stopping at a particularly complex equation. "Hmm...this one's giving me trouble,"

"hummm I see the problem here ... is chemical business" she joked

He chuckles, a low, rumbling sound, as he grins at her attempt at humor. "You're such a dork," he teases, playfully rolling his eyes."But yeah, it's definitely a tricky one." He leans in closer, his nose inches from hers, as he studies the equation more closely. "Tell me what you think... maybe together we can figure it out."

"... Hummm... Isn't the symbol wrong? Should be a more then not a less then... Right?"

His eyes widened slightly as he considered her suggestion, a look of concentration crossing his face. "Yeah... yeah, you're right," he says slowly, nodding his head in agreement. "That's exactly what I was thinking. It's gotta be greater than instead of less than." He scribbles a quick correction onto the paper, his pencil moving swiftly as he makes the change. With the correction made, he steps back to examine the revised equation, his brow furrowed in thought. "Hmm...now that we've got that fixed..." He pauses, tapping his chin thoughtfully as he ponders the next step. "I think I know what's going on here..." A slow smile spreads across his face as understanding dawns on him. "It's a reaction rate problem," he says confidently, pointing to a specific part of the equation.
