'God this mansion must have at least fifty rooms...' Your stomach turned and squeezed as the bundle of nerves bounced in you.

The mansion stood tall and proud, completely embracing the flora that decorated its grounds. You couldn't help but jump at the shriek of the crows that lounged in the occasional bird bath that paraded the lawn. You found it odd that it seemed like it was the only type of bird that resided around the area. A multitude of tall glass windows decorated the brick walls giving anyone inside a clear view of the beautiful landscape.

'You can do this...' you let out a small breath that did little to detangle your anxiousness before you started stepping along the rusting stone path that led to the tall spruce door entrance. Your three knocks, although done with a small force, resounded throughout the door and ultimately let out three clear bangs that anyone inside could hear.

Almost immediately the door opened and your heart stopped. You were greeted by the most mesmerizing man you had ever seen. As his kind sepia eyes locked on yours, a flurry of butterflies erupted in your stomach. His umber hair lay unkempt atop his head threatening to fall and cover his line of sight. "May I help you, Miss?" Being so focused on his stunning features you didn't notice the crimson stains pampering the white hoodie he had on. Their color struck odd to you and one could only wonder what they were.

"Miss? Are you okay?" His soft British-accented voice stopped you from panicking further and overthinking the blood-colored stains' origin.

"Do you work here?" You couldn't stop the words from leaving your mouth before you could fully process the oddity of asking the question. But you just had to know that they weren't what you dreaded they could be.

His eyes studied you curiously, "Why do you ask?"

Your eyes quickly snapped at the stains before just as quickly returning to his eyes again. "Well, you're all stained in God knows what..."

"God knows what?" His eyebrow quirked before he looked down to asses what you were calling out. You watched as his eyes widened before laughing out in realization, "I hope you don't think it's-" He laughed once again, cutting himself off before he finished, "It's just paint."

Right. Of course, you overthought it. Now that you studied them with that idea you resisted the urge to facepalm at how much the substance resembled paint more than the gore. "Are you a painter?" You looked up at him with a nervous smile wanting to move past the embarrassment of your mistake.

His grin widened at the question, tempting a swoon to escape you from the gesture. "Is it that obvious?" His hand moved to push back his falling hair, an excuse really to cover his own bashfulness. "Sorry, I didn't even realize I was covered in paint. When I paint, I sort of get lost in my own world."

"I feel the exact same way about the piano!" You couldn't help but declare, now excited that there was someone else that seemed to share a similar passion for their craft as you do. "When I get into the zone, time fades away and the world feels..."

"Ethereal." He finishes softly.

"Exactly," you grin matching his own as you stare into each other's hues. His eyes sparkle with interest as you mention the instrument, and your passion reflected his own. You could tell that he shared the same love for painting that you have for piano. "So, how long have you been the Watson family's painter?"

"Hey! How dare you?!" Another male voice boomed louder as the person approached. He was obviously younger and was dressed in typical formal wear that a male housekeeper would be expected to wear. "I told you it's my job to open the door." His shaggy chestnut hair bounced as he looked up at the taller male with annoyance.

"I was just nearby." He brushed off the young one, shrugging nonchalantly. "You won't get kicked out just because someone else opens the door."

The shaggy male scoffed, shaking his head in clear irritation before turning to you with a sweet welcoming smile. "I apologize, Miss L/n. May I take you to your interview?"

Oh, right. For a moment, the cute stranger almost made you forget about the upcoming interview. The nerves came back full force, making you doubt whether or not you could do this.

What if you weren't good enough?

"Hey, I could walk you to your interview?" It took you a second before you realized that the older male was talking to you. "I know a trick or two to help relax you." He winked, whispering the last part with pure mischief laced in his tone.

The younger male looked up at him in surprise but he didn't verbally argue with what the taller male had offered you. Less work for him, ya know.

You could feel your cheeks warm with shyness from the sudden forwardness of the stranger. "I'd love for you to take me to my interview."

His grin widened at your satisfactory response, the corner of his eyes crinkling with joy. "I can take it from here, Toby." He turned to the young one, Toby. You couldn't see it from your angle but he had a cocky grin stretched along his lips.

Toby rolled his eyes at the action, "Ok." And he walked away into one of the various halls.

"Right this way." The stranger moved away from your path to allow you into the home. Giving you one last smirk before leading the way for you to follow.

You had been walking for a few minutes, having passed various beautiful decorated rooms, halls, and stairways. Thankfully, he wasn't speeding through the path, and instead, he opted to walk beside you in a comforting silence.

One that you decide to break, "This place is a maze!" You blew out in utter exasperation. "How do you not get lost here?"

He laughed in complete amusement at your bewilderment. "Years of practice."

"Years?" You wondered aloud, he must be quite a good painter if he has worked for the Watson's for years as one, so he's definitely a good person to know. He simply nodded showing hesitance in approaching the topic. Maybe they weren't the best years for him. "So, I was promised tips for calming my nerves." You giggled after the admittance of your stress, hoping that you could relax the risen tension with it.

You could see the corner of his lips rise into a small smile before he turned his gaze upon you. "Well, when you go into your interview, don't think about how the job will benefit you. Think about how hiring you will benefit them." He let out a small chuckle, "Just landing this interview means that you clearly are talented. So, don't think about how lucky you'll be to get the job - think about how lucky they'll be to have your talent."

You laughed, "You don't know if I'm talented."

He hummed to point out a falsity in your words, "I can see the passion in your eyes. That means you are." He came to a stop at the entrance of what looked like a living room before fully turning to face you, "You're going to be great." He offered an encouraging smile that you reciprocated with your own.

"I hope we'll meet again."

He moved to meet at an eye level with you, leaning closer. "Oh, I'm sure we will." With that, he quickly stepped back and turned to disappear deep into the mansion halls.
