Steve drove you back to your place to pick up some of your things. The landlord had at least been kind enough to let you retrieve your necessities.

You didn't have many things to pack. You brought your clothes of course, your bathroom essentials, and your cat.

Once you had gotten your things, the two of you went back to Steve and Bucky's apartment.

Bucky opened the door for you both and helped carry things in, "You really have a cat? I thought that was just an excuse."

You laughed, "Yup. Her name's Alpine."

Bucky smiled at the kitten.

...

The sun was slowly going down and everything was finally in it's place.

"Seriously guys, I can't thank you enough. This is so kind of you two to do. Especially considering you just met me," you said.

Bucky smiled, "It's nothing really."

Alpine was sprawled across his lap on the couch.

You scooped up the white feline before wishing the boys goodnight and heading off to your room.

The pair watched, mesmerized, as you walked away.

"You know neither of us can have her, right?" Steve whispered without taking his eyes off your door.

Bucky just chuckled, "Yeah yeah."

Steve looked back at his friend, "I'm serious. She lives with us now. She's our friend, so please...don't do what you always do."

"What I always do?" Bucky asked.

"Ya' know- take a gal home. Lead her on. Get bored of her, and ultimately end up breaking her heart." Steve said.

Bucky frowned, "Hey! When have I ever done that?"

Steve raised a brow at the oblivious man and began counting women on his fingers, "Dorothy-Anne from the diner, Betty from downstairs, Susan-"

"Okay I get it," Bucky interrupted.

Steve squinted his eyes at his friend, "You have to promise."

"I promise," Bucky said dully.

Steve just sighed at his friend's lack of enthusiasm, "Good enough."

With that, Steve went to bed leaving Bucky in the dark living room with his thoughts.
