Fear

Pete felt as if air has been knocked out of him. He tried to take in deep breathes as the person approached him. "What. The. Hell. Are. You. Doing. Here?" the person hissed. Pete was taken back with the question. He didn't expect to meet this person. He stepped back trying to put distance between them but then he felt the cold touch of the railings against his back.

"Pete..." Lian was soon there beside him and he could see the threatening gaze of the other person on Pete. "How can I help you?" Lian asked as he slowly wrapped his arm around Pete's waist pulling him closer and securing him against his chest to make sure that the lad feels safe.

Pete unconsciously clutched onto Lian's suit as fear slowly began to engulf him. "Oh... I am sorry... I just thought that he looks like someone I know." The person replied while his eyes were still fixed on Pete. "You must have confused him with someone else. Pete, come, let's go home..." Lian said as he gently turned around pulling Pete along with him.

Pete was trembling in fear as he held onto the suit jacket. It's been long since he had seen that face but he will never forget the demon the person was and the way he had tortured him. Lian managed to get Pete out of the place and moved towards the elevator. As soon as they were inside, he pulled Pete in his arms and began to stroke his back. "Sssshhh... Calm down... It's alright... Don't worry... I am there with you." Lian tried to hush Pete.

He could hear little sobs coming out from the fragile boy that was clutching on to him in fear. Lian understood that whoever that person was, Pete was scared of him. The doors of the elevator finally opened and he helped Pete step out. The valet soon brought their car and Lian helped Pete to get comfortable into the passenger seat before getting into the driver's seat and driving off.

After a while, he stopped his car in the deserted place and then turned to face Pete. He grabbed Pete's hand that had gone cold and stroked them gently. "Pete, can you at least tell me now who that person was?" Lian asked in a gentle voice.

Pete's face was stained in tears and he couldn't bring himself to look at Lian. He was more than embarrassed. "I-I am s-sorry.... I ruined everything." Pete spoke in a low voice while trying to control his sobs. "Pete, I don't care about anything. Just tell me what happened. Why you got scared? Did that person threaten you?? Did he hurt you?? Do you know him?" Lian was more than worried since he didn't know what had made Pete get so terrified about the person. He surely has seen the other person looking at Pete and he felt that it was a bit creepy.

"He... H-he... He is my father..." Pete informed. Lian was a bit surprised seeing Pete get scared of his own father. But he remembered Sammy mentioning that her father was a really nice person. "But Sammy said that your parents really love you. And that they are biased about you." Lian replied totally unaware about what Pete was going to say next.

"Sammy's parents are not my real parents. I am like their foster child." Pete cleared. Lian was now slowly understanding what was happening. "Would you like to tell me about it?" Lian asked giving Pete a choice to deny if he was not ready. Pete wiped off his tears and then began to narrate everything. Lian was all attentive listening to each and every word spoken by the fragile lad. He could see the fear in Pete's eyes as he narrated about what happened with him and then how he was kicked out of his house and the reason behind it.

Lian was filled with rage when he came to know the reason why Pete's parents had disowned him. He couldn't believe that they were so cruel to him and made him suffer. "I am sorry Pete... I didn't knew anything about this. I would be more careful henceforth." Lian said in a soft tone while gently rubbing Pete's hands.

"Thank you khrab..." Pete replied in a low tone. Even though he had stopped crying, little sound of sniffing could be heard every now and then. Lian contemplated for a while and then fished out his cell phone and dialed Sammy's number.
