The next day and a few days after that has been getting a little worse since it was almost time for the party.
I couldn't hardly sleep at night now and Layla was noticing it, which was she getting worried about it.
But overrall, work was going great and that man hasn't came back in and caused problems again. I always keep an eye out for him, hoping he didn't show his face but knew he would be back soon.
Everyone was still pissed about that and we always get rude customers that complain about something but we know that we have the best food in town cause everyone else loves it.
It's just the people that don't like watching us succeed.
I wasn't sure what it was with that guy.
But I didn't let it get to me and continued to work hard, making every other customer happy cause that's what I loved doing.
I knew that it was getting close to the time where I wasn't sure if fate was going to torture me or play some cruel game on me.
Layla was excited, which I was glad but everything felt weird for me when it was getting closer to time.
My sleep was messed up along with my appetite, which Layla caught on quickly and asked me about it. She asked if it had anything to do with the party and I told her that it had everything to do with the party.
I could feel my nerves completely shot and it was hard for me to focus on anything. I tried playing it cool when I was at work or hanging with Layla and Kane, but they surely saw that something was wrong.
"You don't have to go." Layla said. "It's entirely up to you."
That made me feel better but I had a part of me that wanted to go, so I was fighting that part more than anything.
I wanted to see her.
Then again, I didn't.
A part of me wanted to ask why she left and what made her stop loving me. I wanted to ask her so many questions that could potentially hurt me but I needed to know everything that cause my heart break.
Even if it caused more heart break.
But even after a year, I wanted to know everything that made us break apart. I never got an answer and even though I moved on from her for a short time and mostly forgot about her, I still wanted to know.
I shook my head as I knew that I wouldn't be getting any of those answers from her. I didn't want to go and still had two more days to figure it out.
Layla was telling me different things everyday though. She would ask if I was going then tell me that I didn't have to go, which was confusing the hell out of me.
"You're confusing her." Kane said.
"I'm trying to let her know that the choice is hers. It's getting close to time." Layla said. She was standing in front of the stove, cooking as me and Kane were sitting at the table.
We had started talking about the party, which made me a little uneasy but I didn't let it show. She asked if I was going and I saw Kane give her a confused look as well as I did, not understanding what she meant.
I ignored her as I was reading something off of my phone, not listening to anything they were saying as I kept my eyes on the screen in front of me.
Layla brought over some plates and placed them down at the table. I placed my phone on the table as Layla was sitting down next to Kane and we all started eating.
"Remember when we first moved here?" Layla looks at both of us with a smile on her face. I saw Kane smiling as well, nodding as he continued to eat. "Do you remember, Jalen?" She asks, looking at me.
