Tris's POV
Today is the day! Haircut day exciting I know; in Abnegation we are allowed to look in the mirror only for a quick minute on the second day of every 3rd month. In Abnegation, we value selflessness. Unfortunately, I'm not very good at it. I'm the disappointment of my family. I've made some mistakes that don't look very good for our faction, oops. Let me explain.
I'm Beatrice Prior, daughter of Andrew and Natalie Prior, and sister to Caleb Prior. Today was my 16th birthday about 20 years ago; when you turned 16, you would choose which faction you would join, but now it's when you turn 18. Thankfully for me, I have two more years. On the downside, my boyfriend will choose his faction next week. I already know what he's going to pick we talked about it. You are probably wondering, Beatrice, who is your boyfriend? What mistakes did you make? Well, to tell you that, I will have to take you back in time.
"Beatrice, honey," My mom called up to me. Seven-year-old me ran down the stairs eagerly to see what my mother wanted. "Yes, mom!" I said in my chirpy voice.
"We are having guests stay with us for the week. They are gonna be moving into the house next to us, due to some water damage at their old house, so until their new house is ready. He has a son 2 years older than you and Caleb, be nice to him, please!" She said, hardly taking any breaths.
"Of course, mom!" I say excited to have a new neighbor!
"Caleb is staying with his friend Robert for the week so our guest's son can have his room. His father will stay in our spare room." She told me.
"Okay, mom! When are they coming?" I asked, eager to meet our new neighbors!
"They will be here any minute, with your dad!" She told me.
"Okay!!!" I shout and skip into our living room and lay on the grey love seat in our living room.
A few minutes later, I hear voices in the kitchen. It must be the new neighbors! I hop up and run to the kitchen, slipping into the man's son.
"I'm so sorry," I say, embarrassed.
"This is our daughter Beatrice." My father gestures toward me as I look down, embarrassed.
"Hello, it's nice to meet you both!" I say politely, only looking up for a second.
"Hello Beatrice, my name is Marcus Eaton, and this is my son Tobias!" He says, gesturing to this tall, handsome boy.
"Hi!" Tobias says to me with a wave.
We all sat down to dinner that my mom had made. They seemed very nice! And I could tell instantly that Tobias and I would be great friends he may be 2 years older than me, but I didn't care! We finished eating and hung out in the living room for an hour, and then everyone was getting tired, so my parents showed Marcus to the spare room and asked me to show Tobias to Caleb's room.
"It just this way!" I tell Tobias.
I lead him up the steps and down the hall to the door next to mine.
I open the door and show him inside. "Wow, he cleaned up his mess of a room. He must have wanted to impress you, Toby!" I laugh, joking with him.
"Toby?" He questioned.
"Yeah, that's gonna be your nickname! Best friends always have nicknames for each other!" I say with a big smile.
"So were bestfriends? We just met." He said with a smirk.
"Yep, best friends, I can tell we are gonna be great friends I hug him and walk out."
"Goodnight, Bea," He says with a big smirk. "We will definitely be great friends!"
