Chapter 2

Tris's POV

Today is my baby boy's birthday! Theo is turning two. We're hoping for a surprise visit from his daddy, but we aren't 100% sure if he will be able to. "Happy birthday, sweet boy," I say, kissing Theo's head as he wakes up. "Mommy," He jumps up and hugs me. "Dada?" He asked. 

"Oh, baby," I sigh. "Dada isn't here right now." I see him frown.

I pick up my little man and get him dressed into his new outfit to match mine. I kiss his head and take him downstairs, where my mom has his favorite food, chocolate chip pancakes waiting for him. We get to the bottom of the steps, and as I'm about to take him into the kitchen, there's a knock at the door.

"I got it!" I yell to the kitchen.

"Thanks, Honey." My mom yells back.

I open the door and am wrapped in a big hug. Its Tobias. "Dada" Theo yells and hugs his daddy back. "Hi, birthday boy," Tobias says, kissing his head. While away from my parents and brother, I kiss Tobias hard on the lips with Theo on my hip. 

"Come on in, your just in time for breakfast!" I smile, motioning him in. 

"Mom, we have a guest," I say and hand Theo to Tobias.

"Hey, Tobias!" Caleb says. "What's up," Tobias says back.

"Does your father know you are here?" My parents asked.

"No, I'm just here to celebrate this little man's birthday. I'm heading back tonight!" He replied.

"Me and Theo were gonna head to the park later and then go out to dinner; you can join us if you would like, Tobias!"

"I would love to join you guys!" Tobias says with a giant smile.

We finish eating breakfast and chat about our lives. Tobias tells us about the dauntless and how crazy they are, but he says he is doing well there. He said he is at the top of his transfer class ranking!

Later that day, we headed to the park with Theo. I stand back and let Tobias have some time with Theo. Watching the 2 of them together makes my heart so happy, just 1 more year. He is such a great daddy. Deep down, I think my parents know or suspect he is Theo's dad because of how involved Tobias is in Theo's life. 

"Look at my handsome boys!" I say, walking over to the 2 of them. 

"Mommy," Theo said as he shoved a teddy bear in my face. "Dada got me it!" He yelled so excitedly.

"He loves it" I look at Tobias with a big smile. 

"Now I'll always be with him. It has the dauntless logo on the front and says Daddy loves you, Theo, on the back. I got it custom-made 3 weeks ago, so I would have it for today!" He told me, smiling down at our boy.

"That's the cutest!" I put my arm around him. "So tonight before you leave, I was thinking we put Theo to bed together and have a hang out in the tree house before you leave!" I say, winking at him.

"Oh definitely, I could use some hangout time" He has a lustful grin. 

"Momma," Theo yanks on my shirt. "Home now"

"You wanna go home, baby boy, Are you tired?" I ask Theo, who nods, leaning on Tobias's leg dozing off.

Tobias picks up our sleepy boy and cradles him as we walk back to my parent's house. Tobias and I walk upstairs with our sleeping birthday boy he wakes up for a couple of seconds and looks at his daddy "Love you, Dada, bye, thank you," He says, hugging his daddy

"I love you to my sweet boy, goodnight, ill miss you! he kisses Theo's head and puts him in the bed, tucking him in.

We leave the room shutting off the light and closing the door. 

"You ready for your early birthday surprise since I won't be able to get out again." Tobias grins at me.

"Yes, my love" I kiss his cheek as we walk to the tree house. 

We climb into the treehouse, and as I'm about to sit down, Tobias gets down on one knee. 

"Your kidding" I cry.

"Beatrice Prior, you are the most beautiful women I have ever met; you are fun, smart, kind, silly, loving, you are an amazing mother, you are my very best friend; I am so thankful to have you in my life, to call you mine, I love you so much and want to love you for the rest of my life, will you do me the honor of marrying me, Bea?" He asks, holding a delicate classic cut diamond ring.

"I cry and fling my arms around him" Yes, I cry and kiss him hard.

He puts the ring on me and kisses me. we made out and decided to go all the way; it was so special because we now are engaged, and it made the lovemaking even more passionate because of the love we were feeling for each other.

"I have to go, Bea." He says after an hour of cuddling with each other.

"I know. I love you, Toby. Thank you so much for tonight" I lift my head and kiss him. 

We climb out of the tree house and stand there smiling, looking at each other. It was such a memorable night, 

"Goodbye, my love, I will miss you! See you in a year, Bea!" He says, hugging me.

"I love you, future hubby. I'll miss you too! Thank you for today, for being here to celebrate Theo, for this amazing gift, and for the fun we had in the treehouse." We both laugh at the last part.

We kiss once more, and he walks me back to my door. He hugs me once again and places a gentle kiss on my lips.

"Goodbye, Toby I love you!" I say as he begins walking away.

"Goodbye, Bea, Love you both see you soon, my love."

I head up to my room but am stopped by my mom.

"Hey honey, did Tobias leave." She asks me from the couch.

"Yeah, he did," I say my smile fades a little, but I look down, and it returns.

"Why are you so smiley?" She asks with a giggle.

"Mom, can I tell you something? Nobody can know." I say nervously.

"Of course, honey. What is it?" She asks, concerned.

"Firstly, the reason Tobias left is because Marcus was beating him," I showed her a picture I took of the marks his father left. "And also Tobias is Theo's dad, and he just proposed to me tonight" I smile so big.

"Oh honey, that is awful; I had no idea that was going on, poor Tobias. Is that why you kept it quiet that he was the father? I am so happy for you guys. You will be a beautiful wife." My mom says with a smile.

"Yeah, I lied about who the father was so Marcus wouldn't get mad and hurt Tobias," I say with a sad smile.

"Your gonna leave us next year, aren't you?" My mom asked.

"I'm sorry, mom." I cry.

"Honey, I'm not mad I understand. I was just asking. Go get some sleep. Goodnight, love you." My mom says to me. 

"Thank you, mom. Goodnight, love you." I say back as I head to my room.

The next few weeks go by really quickly. Theo and I do different activities every day. I want him to have as much fun as possible with his dad being gone. He doesn't seem sad about it just confused as to why he isn't here. I tell him every day how much his daddy and I love him, and that we will go be with him soon, which always makes us both smile.
