"ay, ay, ay, ay" she said clutching her wrist like it was going to call off, we all looked at her thinking it was just a part of her dramatic flare
"well dont make such a big deal of it" she said disappointed in our delay.
"what happened" mami said being the first one to check up on her, i was after and papito behind me.
"she tripped on the sie walk infront of the building" schnieder said walking through the door after abuelita
"i had to break my fall, some peoples faces are worth protecting" she said looking at mami, we all sat on the couch, i took her arm carefully to see if it was broken.
"bonita and papito know what im talking about" she says looking at us. i smiled and continued assessing her arm, i see alex smugly smiling and nodding his head in the corner of my eye, so i slap him on the arm.
"abuelita how did you trip" elena said before i got up to get the first aid kit from the bathroom.
coming back with it i bangage her arm up tightly to reduce swelling.
"how are you so good at that" Schneider said watching me help abuelita, i looked at him kind of dumbfounded "this is literally my job, army nurse hello remember " i say waving the kit around that had my name and my ranking on it.

i had a baby doctor appointment today and mami was covering for me.
i had decided i was going to tell them tonight because soon i wont be able to hid it, i mean half of my clothes werent fitting anymore, mami even gave me a pair of maternity jeans.
"ms alvarez nice to see you" the doctor said as i laid on the bed, we skipped the small talk.
"so your baby is growing perfectly we haven't detected any defects" she smiled and i nodded.

i walk into the apartment and see elena holding a shit ton of books
"hey guys" i say putting my keys in the little dish mami calls elena college fund
"hey, wanna study the voting system with abuelita and i" lena says sitting down and putting the books on her lap.
"yeh no, but i want to talk to you all about something" i say walking over to the coffee table and sitting on it.
"yes, lets listen to Xiomara" abuelita said brushing off elena.
i took a deep breath as their eyes turned to me intently
"shit here it goes. im pregnant" i rush out, abuelita turns white and elenas eyes widen.
i sit in silence waiting for them to say something.
"what" abuelita says in her think accent.
"im pregnant" i hand her my ultra sound i got today.
she looked at it and her eyes glassed up
"it looks like berto" she says, elena was looking over her shoulder
"is that what dropped on my lap in the car" elena says, i nodded and turned to abuelita "are you mad?" she shook her head no, i could see she was still processing the news. i knew elena would be fine with it because shes my sister and would always have my back
"how far along?" abuelita asked me putting the picture on her lap and stared at me
"4 or 5 months maybe?" i say and she just stares
"youve been hiding this for that long, ay bonita that mustve been really hard on you" she says holding my hand with her non injured one.
"does mami know" elena asked and i looked to her "yes mami knows she was the first one" thy both nod.
