Having awoken from such a deep slumber, there was a throbbing pain in the back of my head, this room..
The walls were painted white, the mattress was soft, lying down you'd sink into it, the silk of the curtains shined brightly.
"Are you awake Renia?"
This voice.. "Cassis?" I hesitantly turned to him, this was the same man who i played with as a child?
"Renia, are you hungry?"
"No, Cassis I-" he interrupted me by calling in a maid, the maid brought in my breakfast with a sweet smile on her face, "You should eat Renia, you've been asleep for 2 days now."
"Cassis, where am I?"
"Where else but the imperial palace of course, I'm the emperor now Renia, haven't you heard, rumours have been spreading around about the new emperor everywhere,"
The new emperor, his eyes were lifeless, soulless even, could you even call him a real person? He looked more like an old doll. He smiled at me, i'm scared. I felt the lips of someone touch my cheeks, "Renia, i really have missed you."
Cassis, has always been this way right? He's always been this way to me. "Y-yes, have you?" i couldn't say i missed him, i really never did. I just wanted to be free from this novel. "Cassis, your complexion isn't the best right now."
"Don't worry, i'll be fine. I want to sleep now."
"Cassis, you should go back to your room."
"Is it not normal for me to share a bed with my fiance?"
"Cassis, we're not engaged anymore, I told my father to break off the engagement."
"Your father hasn't told you whether he failed or not has he?"
"He... he failed?"
"I refused to let him break off the engagement, i'd rather stay engaged to a person who's missing rather than break it off and have you come back."
"The engagement, should have been broken off Cassis." I stared right into his eyes, he looked at me and gave a nervous chuckle, "what do you mean Renia?"
I've never once wanted to be engaged to this man, the feelings i've had for him since a child was only pity, it never sparked into a brighter flame. "It's as I said, i wish for the engagement to be broken off."
"I like you Renia,"
As expected, he does have feelings for me, i don't reciprocate them unfortunately "Therefore, i won't break off this engagement even if you beg on your knees."
"I'll fine some other way then" he turned his head towards me, as if i just placed a cursed on him.
