Chapter 9

"Renia? What do you mean?" His eyes looked at me with disbelief and his lips trembled slightly as he muttered every word, "I requested for an annulment of our marriage, if i requested it shouldn't i make it happen?" This time i felt bad, his eyebrows furrowed and he looked at me gloomily.
"Right, you always did whatever you wanted even if it meant leaving me."
"What do you mean?"
"Let's talk again tomorrow Renia."
"Ah.. your highness!"
He slammed the door shut, not even letting me finish speaking.
From behind the door, i could hear his sobs as they got quieter.
That's right, this is what I want.

Morning had come, Cassis was sitting next to my bed, the corners of his eyes were reddened and his hands were playing with my hair, "Cassis.."
"Goodmorning Renia." his dull tone in voice sent shivers down my spine, he never spoke to me like this, should i get used to it?
"Cassis, i'm sorry about yesterday... I really didn't mean to hurt you."
"You're still calling off the engagement though right?"
His eyes didn't sparkle, but they pleaded that i denied anything regarding calling of our engagement, I couldn't speak, I couldn't manage to put everything in a sentence.
"I.."
"I knew it, it's fine Renia"
His head had turned in a different direction, in a way where he wished i wouldn't look at him, i could only pat his back as he let go of the strand of hair he had been twirling around his fingers.
His pitiful expression, right. This is what i dealt with in my past life, i should have gotten used to it, something in me completely broke "Heuk..."
"Renia?!"
"Uwaaa... i hate this, i hate this so much"
"Renia, d-don't cry.."
Cassis embraced me tightly, as if he was never going to let go, "I hate this world, i hate playing the role of Renia Osmeia hic..." Cassis only stroked my hair as i hit him on his back "I hate you! You're going to leave me anyway so why must you stick by my side!!" He didn't respond, he only hugged me tighter and endured all the harsh comments and punches i was throwing at him. "Waaaa, you're really a jerk Cassis! Let me go! I don't want your hugs or words of affection!! They're not even true!"
He finally let go but his hold on my shoulders became tighter, "How are they not true Renia?" he smiled down at me, i could notice the tears in his eyes, that's right. Cassis suffered too "Explain it for me, how are my words not true."
In a daze of the moment, i told him everything, how i was not from this world and had memories of my past life to the point how i'm only a character.

"Renia, are you done crying now?"
"Mm. Thank you for staying by my side, it must've hurt being hit by me continuously right?"
"I'm alright, i'm sorry for being unable to understand you Renia."
"Don't apologise. I didnt tell you anything about me, i can't have expected you to know everything"
"Well, i'm happy i was able to see the immature side of you today, the cute and childish Renia."
"Get out of my room."
"I was only kidding Renia, stay with me."
"Mm, you have to leave after i fall asleep though."
"Fine fine."
