PART ONE: Beginning of the end

--Moth--

//FIFTEEN YEARS LATER//

When you are dragon who is known by the whole palace, you usually don't befriend a servant.

And when you are known by the whole palace, you absolutely don't let said servant name you.

Yet, that was exactly what Starfly did. She wasn't stupid, of course. She knew the palace rules perfectly well. That was the reason why she did it. Until she met Soundweaver, her life was bound only by rules. He said she needed change. He was funny. And most of all, he wasn't royal jerk.

She was four when she met him. Starfly was, as usually when she had free time, in the palace garden. It was place full of peace and harmony. She was helping her favorite gardener, Cloud, plant some roses, when burly figure bumped into her. She yelped, and the dragon stopped. "Sorry, sorry, didn't mean to." he said quickly and turned to walk away. Starfly grasped at his talons.

"It's fine." she said quickly. He turned at her, and she had time to see him clearly for the first time. He was tall. The dragon standing before her was taller than most grown dragons she ever met, and she guessed he could be five or six years old. Second thing she noticed, he was DustWing. He scales gray-ish brown, though there was something not quite right about him. He had deep amber eyes and small permanent grin. Starfly wanted to ask for his name or what was he doing there, but obviously, fate had other plans.

"You are a DustWing." she squeaked. He smiled at her in a way that made her want to tear his wings off. "I prefer the DustWing. You know, the one from your dreams." he said. Oh, he was totally gonna loose his wings. Starfly growled at him and he laughted. "Hey, sorry m'lady, but I don't have time right now. If you wanna go on that date, meet me at sunset in Galaxy Caves. Bye!" he called after her, already running away, leaving her with only one though: 'What date?'

Of course she came.

He was the first dragon who ever acted as if she wasn't dangerous weapon. Truth to be told, she skipped both her classes with her mentor Stardancer, just to go wait in the Galaxy Caves. She knew she would be hearing all about that, but she didn't care. The mysterious DustWing was something she wanted to know, unlike 'How to be the best obedient palace idiot in five steps'.

The Galaxy Caves was her second favorite place in whole castle. It was huge cave system, so big it wasn't explored all. The ceiling was high up in most places, alive with beautiful shades of glowworms. Here, Starfly could belive magic was real. Here, she could hope for better life.

She waited several hours before the DustWing finally came. He galloped into the cave, and when he saw her, he grinned and waved his wings at her. At that moment, Starfly realized what was wrong with him. His left wing was completely destroyed. Long, ugly-looking scars ran from bottom to top. She doubted he could even fly. He didn't seem to mind, though. He came to her, smiled and bowed.

"I see I am charming enough if you came." he showed her his teeth in smuggish smile. Starfly made pitying face at him. "Please," she snorted. "I don't even know your name, let alone you. How exactly is that charming?" she asked. He tapped his chin. "You got point there, m'lady." he spread his wings. "My name is Soundweaver, the great DustWing servant in StarWing palace, first ever to be!"

He looked at her with a face that he probably though was very romantic. (HINT: It wasn't.)

"And what';s your name, m'lady?" he asked dramatically. Starfly shrugged.
