(Aprils pov)
"What do you mean?" I asked. "My head... Is spinning. I see 3 of you.." He said. He tried rolling onto his side, then moaned in pain. "Jackson try to stay still your ribs are broken." Derek said. Jackson started saying something, but he began wheezing and coughing. "Shit April page Bailey and the chief! His lungs are giving out again!" Derek said. I paged them immediately. "No no no he was stable!" Mark yelled as he ran into the room. "Anyone who's not necessary get out!" Hunt yelled. "Dr. Avery, stay calm. We don't know what's wrong with you but you might, since your the one feeling it. Just think." Bailey said as calmly as possible. "Pul..." He said while breathing deeply again. "Pul..." He tried to make out what the words were, but he was far too weak and could barely breathe. "Relax, your doing okay." Bailey assured him. He started to cough up blood. "What's going on?" Derek asked rhetorically. Finally, Jackson choked out, "pulmonary....embolism." Bailey gasped. "Pulmonary embolism that's it!" She yelled. "We need to drain his lungs! Someone get me a chest tray!" Bailey yelled, panicking. "Bailey slow down! Let me do it, your hands are shaking." Owen told her. She stepped back. He had already passed out at this point. Owen put in the chest tube. "Draining the embolism." He announced. Bailey exhaled deeply, in relief. I saw Mark sitting outside the room down the hall. I sat down next to him. "He's okay." I said. "He's coded 7 times today. What is your definition of okay?" He said with tears in his eyes. "Mark, He's going to be okay." I said. "I can't lose my plastics posse, April." He said with a sob. "I know, I don't want to lose him either." I said. "Do you want me to set up an extra cot in his room? It's 2 am." I asked. "Please."
~~~~the next day~~~~
"April" I hear a whispering voice say. "Mhmmm?" I said, rolling over. "He's up." Mark said. I sat up. "Jackson!" I said, smiling. "Hey... the room stopped, spinning." He said, with his eyes squinted. He cleared his throat "How is ...Anna" Mark glanced at me. He mouthed, 'she died' to me. Then he said, "oh she's fine." He smiled slightly, then closed his eyes. "Good."
"Can someone call... My sister." Jackson asked, clearing his throat again. "I'll handle it." I volunteered. I picked up his phone, the screen was cracked but it still worked. His lockscreen was a picture of him and Lexie. I frowned as I clicked on his sisters contact. "Jackson it went to voicemail should I call your mom?" His hand shook as he formed it into a thumbs up shape. "Mrs Avery? Hey, this is April Kepner. Don't freak out, but Jackson was in a little accident. He's okay." "Oh my gosh what happened? Is he stable right now can I speak to him?" She yelled. "He's stable, but he asked me to call you. He's very weak right now but he just wanted to let you know that he can't make it to Kylie's first round of chemotherapy." "Oh he didn't get the message? he's not emotionally or physically stable enough to hear this, but she decided to refuse the chemo. I will be at the hospital in a 5 days and I expect him to be fully aware of the situation before I get there!" "Mrs Avery I know this just makes things worse but his favorite patient also died when he was coding last night. But I will make sure he knows. I'm sorry I have to go, bye." I hung up because I couldn't deal with her yelling at me anymore. "How's ky?" He asked. "Um.. Babe don't freak out but she is refusing the chemo."
