In the Spotlight (Max Verstappen - Book Two)

Prologue

One night? Could we have one night?

I shook my head, smiled at him and finally walked through the door of my building. I shut down the thought quickly, knowing in my soul that I think one night might prove to be the tipping point. I knew enough to know that what I felt for Max was not a common thing, nor would it be a casual thing.

I knew that I would quickly realise that one night with Max wasn't enough. Hell, the way I felt right now, an entire life might not be enough. No one had made me feel so seen, so magnificent and talented as he had.

As much as I like Max, and I'll admit that I do like him...a lot...I love driving more. It's everything I've ever wanted. And more than just driving, I want to be a world champion. Undisputed, unquestioned. If I was to start seeing Max, not only would it be complicated with us as teammates, but I meant what I said when he asked me before. I'm not sure if I would be able to completely dedicate myself to either him or driving which sounds like it simply would not end well, both professionally or personally.

Perhaps Max is the right person for me at the wrong time but I'm resolute in my decision that I need to establish myself as a top driver before I could even begin to contemplate being in a relationship, knowing how much people would try and use any relationship I might have within the sport to discredit me and my talent.

Let alone a relationship with my teammate.

The season(s?) covered in this book is completely made up as it hasn't happened yet and so I will be trying my best to keep a track of driver's standings etc...and yeah :)

I will be starting a job in a few weeks and so I am hoping to get as much done as possible before then because naturally, I will be a lot slower updating after that!
